So I watched it last night. If I were to describe it in a single word, "awesome" falls short by a wide margin. It truly is terrific. Ledger's Joker pretty much make the film, and if he gets a posthumus Oscar for that performance, then it's well deserved.

Watched it last night at a preview screening at Vue (got a free hologram poster) and have to say I enjoyed it but it had something missing, Heath Ledger was good as the Joker while hes no Mark Hamil hes a close second. Not sure what they are going to do with the third film now.

Its mainly Harvey Dent that bugs me, everything is done really well, but they should made it more akin to the comics and played off Bruce being friends with Harvey, I mean it was handled well but it could have been done so much better.

It's quite rare I come out of the cinema and think "wow, I could easily watch that again already" but this really was fantastic. I was a skeptic wondering whether or not peoples comments about heaths joker were just because he died so I didn't have massively great expectations for him but that was seriously well done. Absolutely hilarious part... only a shame I can't say what the funniest parts were :D

Also saw it as the preview night at the cinema... I wonder, did anyonelse get their free gift? :D

Just came out of the cinema watching this, holyshit it's a good movie, one I'll most probably go and see again too. Worth all the hype, you sit down and the 2h+ flys like nothing.

Joker was great, only Depp could of done it better :D

film was great,
I actually went in thinking ye ye ye to the whole Great joker thing,
abit convinced his performance had been overrated due to his death.
but Holly crap he had me convinced. I can only ecco that if he gets an oscar,
it's well deserved.

Just saw it in imax and it was fantastic. All the major action scenes were filmed in imax and looked great.

The performances of most of the actors was very good, particularly heath ledger and Aaron Eckhart. I can't stand Maggie Gyllenhaal though.

If you get the chance, go and watch it in imax, but I believe it's sold out for some time.

I'll probably watch it again some time this weekend in a normal cinema.

I felt the same, absoultely brilliant. I need to see this in imax.

Best moments were Joker leaning out of the cop car after breaking out, and the entire hospital scene dressed as the nurse.

Oh my god, that film was amazing. Heath Ledger absolutely deserves an Oscar for it.

His entrance into the Mafia den was just fantastic - the pencil!! And the way he was so unpredictable throughout, with his story constantly changing and his responses so mercurial, was just brilliant. In the hospital scene I actually found his speech utterly compelling, and I think it would have stayed my hand too. An utterly masterful performance, and regardless of whether he was dead or alive, there would be oscar talk for it.

i have to agree best joker bit for me would be the hospital bit and the bit where he says i killed a bus driver.

Just watched it with my boy over in Basingstoke.

Wow and awesome are just two words which describe this film. The best ever Batman film ever made by a bloody long shot. Heath deserves some form of recognition for his portrayal of the Joker. Amazing. Stunning.

I kept thinking back to the characters played by Jack Nicholson, another great actor who does the wierd physco parts so well, I prefered Heath's.

The magic trick with the pencil was fucking awesome and the best parts for me was the Hospital bit in the uniform and pressing the detonator button at the end.
My only regret is that we will never ever see the Joker played like this again. RIP Heath, you truly were a great actor.

Good film, Heath Ledger's performance was nothing short of superb.

But it wasn't as good as Batman Begins imho, and not as good as any of the Tim Burton Batman films. Too long and extremely convoluted in places. Less The Dark Knight and more A Long and Confusing Night at the Cinema.

YMMV.

Couldn't disagree more. Thought this wasn't just the best Batman film to date, but the best superhero film, full stop. I hate to say it, but Watchmen (despite looking incredible in all the spy shots) is going to have to go some to top this. Yes the plot was convoluted, but that was the point; it reflected the way the Joker's mind is supposed to work. And it wasn't exactly difficult to follow.

If I had one criticism it would be:
Two-Face is under-used and then disposed of too easily; he's one of the best villains in the Batman mythos and he lasted about 20 minutes.

Good film but I can't help feel the overhype crowd almost spoiled it. Personally I prefered batman begins because it was about batman in the making and I like that sort of thing. But this film had very good character building, and some fantastic performances from the very talented cast, although in imo not enough Alfred. It certainly does what it sets out to do thats for sure.

two face isnt dead, Harvey Dent is.

they havent disposed of him, infact we'r never clearly told what happens to him.
if they make a third, wich I have a hunch they will, (I'm guessing soemthing like bla bla locked up at gothem asylum bla bla bla recovery, bla bla, special cell yada yada, unexpected escape yardijar bla bla, heey presto!)
He'll be back!

Saw this tonight, while I thought ledger gave a great performance, its clear he's 'just' acting, he'll probably get an oscar because its the sort of thing hollywood loves. However, I thought that Christian Bale gave a fantastic performance, he protrayed bruce well, with anguish over the moral decisions, and really showed batmans partial decent from a deity, into a hated figure, getting progressivley more moody and agressive as batman as the film went on. imo Bale deserves recognition, but it wont happen because ledgers dead and the masses are cheering for an oscar for him.

I'm a real Baleophile but I do think that Ledger outshone him in this film, he was just fantastic. I went to see the film with a very negative perspective - basically thinking that all this hype was because he died, but he delivered and then some.

Watched it last night, I thought I would watch it before making a judgement on the hype thing and I am glad I did. Ledgers performance was superb, he captured the Jokers essence. The only down side for me is that I doubt anyone will have the balls to cast or even want to try and follow that performance for a long time.

Fair enough :) I am all for a film, even a Superhero film, that challenges its viewers, that seeks to engage the brain as much as excite with the visuals. But, for me, it didn't engage the brain on the right levels ... there were too many plot holes, too much forced dialogue, too many rushed scenes, too many plot devices.

Plus it failed, for me anyway, to evoke an emotional reaction. I didn't really care about any of the people in the film other than Gordon, and even that was in a very passing manner. Plus Batman himself is not edgy enough, he is too much of an All American Hero for my liking -- much preferred his portrayal in the original two films by Keaton.

Doesn't take anything away from it being an excellent film though, was very pleased to have seen Heath Ledger's finest (three) hour(s).

Cage is class, some of his movie choices of late however have been shocking.
