All,
I was originally planning on a barton 3200+ (200 MHz fsb / 400 DDR), but it seems money can be saved by buying a 3000+ (166 MHz fsb / 333 DDR) and overclocking the FSB from 166 to 200 (with PC3200 ram) to acheive the same performance.
However, some have said "buy a 2500+ Barton", but there is conflicting info on the web about the 2500+ Barton disliking the 200 MHz fsb speed and generally not working. However, some do work ok.
I don't want to take the chance as I want the 200 FSB, so it makes sense to buy the 3000+.
My question is; has anyone bought the 3000+ and overclocked to the 3200+ with 200 MHz fsb? or even the 2500? Additionally, I will purchase 1Gb (2x512 in dual channel mode) of PC3200 ram. Will there be any compatibility problems by forcing a 166 MHz 3000+ to run a 200 MHz fsb in this memory configuration?
Recommendations on a postcard.
Cheers

PS my current spec is a 2400+ running at 2700+, but with a pawltry 133 fsb on a rather dated A7V266.
