I never ever got the mission packs for Q2, so it may be a retro weekend next weekend with the Mrs away in Dublin!

I think the only one I would definitely play again is Commander Keen ;)

Is it all 6?

Shamelessly trying to sell old games no one has played in ages. Suppose it worked quite well.

Steam's great. I love it. Hated it at first, because it was a hugely buggy piece of shit, but now it's a great stable platform and a doddle to buy stuff over.

/slaps Wazz

Daikatana wasnt iD, it was some ex-iD guy who thought he was the dogs bollocks, left to do his own thing, and realised he wasnt much cop after all ;)

Yeah, that dick with the long hair - Romero or something. Massive ego, not quite so large in the talent department.

Most of the game code is gpl'd or something similar, however the game content is not. All those 2d imps, cacodemons and archviles belong to iD !

Steam still is a heap of ...er...steaming shit. It won't ever ben anything else.

And Daikatana wasn't that bad. The single player reminded me very much of the single player Halo. Oh wait, that is terrible.

What do you dislike particularly about steam? I'm not trying to be bitchy - I don't actually use it much myself, just interested in what your issue with it is. On the whole, I find it pretty inoffensive.

Checked it out earlier - there's 4/5 games altogether:

"The Complete Pack"
The Earth Explodes
Keen must Die
Secret of the Oracle
The Armageddon Machine

If you buy these old titles on Steam how have they packaged them to work with Windows? Do they use dosbox? Is there anyone playing original Quake online with steam?

It's restrictive, bloated and totally unnecessary. It doesn't do what it tries to do very well and from professional experience it is overly sensitive and barely works. Oh, and the fact you needed it to play Half Life 2 single player (plus an internet connection); what the fuck was that for.

Your review of steam would be valid for the first 3 months of it's life. It's changed, a lot. I know you are a big cynic Wazz, but you really should try it again. It is now stable, fast, not bloatware and very very quick for getting new content.

I worked with it last year as our game was released through it (and many other channels). It was god awful to work with.

What game is that? We could all buy it as an act of Freddyshouse solidarity!

You all should know, it's basically the one game I've worked on for the last few years. I'm not saying. Humph!
