Bard question

Ok, i will probably get flamed for this.
But as bards are currently speccing (43/47 nurt/music the spec i'm heading for atm) Is speccing them as a ccer, and a grp speed giver. Of course they have some other nice abilities in baseline such as heals and rez, but they are speccing for the cc and the songs.
But, with the upcoming mez nerfage is it worth speccing so many points in music anymore? Sure, we now get some nice insta mez, but if it's gonna have a lowered duration from det and the tailing off at edges of ae mez + the abundance of purge to just get rid of it is it really worth the 47 points to get the last ae insta?
I already have one char with 46 points in an uber gimped specline, don't want another.

So in light of upcoming mez nerfage is it perhaps better to spec your bard a bit more highly into regrowth and reduce the music levels a bit?
I have been playing around with my char builder and came up with a 43/39/30 Nurt/reg/music spec.
Gives you a decent ae mez, first resist chants and the insta single target mez. In addition you can now heal a hell of a lot better with a nice grp heal and spec heal.

Anyway, just a thought i will probably stick with current spec (even tho i've gimped myself and can only get 15 reg... doh) to atleast see what happens once mez is nerfed. But if once it is i find myself healing for 95% of fights instead of mezzing then i will probably seriously reconsider a respec.

As for spec... Atm I have 43+11 nurture, 16+5 regrowth, 14+8 blades, 45+13 music which works well but I will be respeccing.

Theoretically you want the 47 insta just because the radius on it is so much better, but yes, given the "nerfed" durations and the fact you *should* save the mezz for escaping...

Correct thats all it will be good for ..But some nice ideas there i would go and im sure i will ( ) for ZERO Regrowth base heals will be enough after later patches..

Got a 47/43/16/5 spec (Blunt in this case)
1.52 will kick ass for bards, we get the insta's and the nerf-bat only comes our way in 1.53.

If there ever comes a respec ill go back to 37/43/33/5 spec.
I'll still have 2 insta's then for when i get jumped, the only thing i lose out on is the best shout. So be it.

I never use my weapons except when solo perhaps, but as a bard i grp 99% of time. When in battle i heal, mez and play end, far more usefull to grp than any puny damage i could do.
For that reason i'm speccin all spare points after i get desired level of music and nurt to regrowth for heals, but that can't get reg very high. But as Nicky said and i'd forgotten, base heals are getting improved so i don't need to spec higher in reg to get better healing. Therefore i will probably stick with my original plan of 47/43/16 which gives me the better rez and lowers variance of my base heal a bit, also gives me all the usefull songs/spells from the music and nurture lines.
