Henry + Lehmann must both feel a bit of guilt :)
Really hope Henry will stay, this team looks like it can become something big. If they manage not to do a total sellout.

I think he is tired of not winning european cups... maybe im wrong

BARCELONA CHAMPIONS 2006.

The records will say this.

END OF.

Quite right. Barca won 2-1. However, its not an excuse but the victory was tainted by a shocking referee and an offside goal. But such is life, and lady luck was on the catalans side this year. Out of curioisty, how many Barcelona home games did you go to see this year and why werent you there last night?

Ref was a bit shite though, he got the sending off right, but that's about all ...

any normal ref would let play continue..... let barca have goal and keeper yelllow... and all would be happy.

he even admit he was wrong after match.... he killed what would have been match of year. And quite frankly i think Arsenal would have won, Ronaldinho had a real bad day.

To sad Henry/Ljunbergs solo zerging in the end didnt give them a goal....

suprised nobody has mentioned the disgraceful displays by barca players when they waved imaginary red and yellow cards at the ref... Puyol especially. ok the ref was shite but he doesnt need telling who to book and send off.

hope we dont see that kinda shite in world cup

To be fair though, its was the champions league cup final. Im sure if it was me and or you we would be telling the ref to send someone off after a tackle like that aswell.

What made me laugh was that the Barca players surrounded the referee trying to get Lehmann send off, crowding him and waving their imaginary cards and then later on when they kicked the ball out for an Arsenal injury, they were very upset when Arsenal didn't give the ball back.

Don't understand why Barca expect Arsenal to act in 'the spirit of the game' after they do something like that.

Not excuses, just discussing a match.

But hey, stating "BARCELONA CHAMPIONS 2006. !!!! M8z" Is quite cool too.
And still waiting for an answer to Marc's question.

what the ref did wrong was to blow the whistle "to soon". however once done he had no other option than to then send off the keeper.

According to the letter of the law, even if he'd let play continue and allowed the goal to stand, he would still have had to send off Lehmann. The fact he played advantage does not change the fact it was a professional foul with only one punishment available to the referee ie a red card.

Barca had a goal disalowed at the start also remember ;)
as well as the fact Arsenals only goal was through diving ^^ and shouldnt have been allowed in the first place, so no they didnt deserve it.
BUt yes i meant throughout the tournament
we can all guess what the performance would have been like but at the end of the day Barca won :)

Barces first goal was off side so there you go 0 0 and a different game.

I am a big arsenal fan but i have to say we hurt ourselves Lehman did grab his leg so yes sending off, yes the ref could also of given the goal and sent off the keeper he could also of let play go on not booked the keeper and let them keep the goal. Yes our goal was a dive. Yes imo the ref was useless how Henry got insta booked and the 3 people who did the same to him were not even warned.

But at the end of the day our distribution after Lehman was sent off always meant we were going to lose the ball went out of play and he kicked it right back to them. Long ball never works.

That is from what i saw watching it in the pub the team did unbeiveably well with 10 but could have done it much better.

cheating fcking *****, 12v10 doesn't get any more unfair than that whatta major let down to what shoudla been a fcking awesome match, bet tht wanking ref placed a bet on barca winning.

Lol yeah right, I would have guessed he'd have money on Arsenal from the way he refereed in the first half. Can anyone here who's an Arsenal supporter have the guts to say that the free kick given prior to the 1-0 goal was 100% not deserved and should never have been free kick, but yellow card for diving? :puke:

Slightly off topic but just had an interesting discussion at work. Who would you rather have, Ronaldinho or Gerrard? I have to agree with my work mates in that they would have Gerrard every time. I have yet to see Ronaldinho step up to the plate in any big game, yet Gerrard is the quintisential (sp!!) big game player. Id even go as far as saying Gerrard is the number 1 midfielder in the world.

i agree on you here but what about the dive Ronaldinho makes where arsenal gets a freekick but he dont get a yellow card?

as soon as the referee sent off lehmann i knew he would ruin the game, that decision alone ruined the game, arsenal looks the better team before they where reduced to 10 men and for the first half for that matter

barca where a let down really, to stuggle to get those 2 goals and arsenal threatened even with 10 men..... doesnt show the signs of the side and match i expected from this..... and for the news to call them sour losers and saying they werent the better team is just stupidity..... had it been 11 v 11 it would have been a better game id say and arsenal would have had the edge..... because it was close 10 v 11

Barca played crap, Ronaldinho played like a bag of wank. Best player in the world?

Steven Gerrard wins hands down, and I hate Liverpool(Everton <3)

TBH Bracken, arsenals goal was a case of "what goes around comes around" after Messi's shocking bit of play acting to get Del Horno sent off.

Absolutely, no complaints from me he gave it - it was just another example of a bad decision in the game though. Incidentally, why is it whenever English clubs play Barcelona one of their players get sent off? In light of what's happening at Juventus the conspiracy theory starts here...

You can't blame the referee for sending Lehmann off. It was the correct decision, whether it was a final or not. As for the "goal" that followed, that is irrelevant, had Eto'o gone past Lehmann he would have scored. Red card plain and simple. Yes is spoiled what was turning into a great game but that isn't the referee's fault. Rules are rules. The other Barca player who put the ball in the back of the net would have been offside also but I don't know this for sure.

As for Arsenal's goal. Well it was a dive that got the free kick in the first place. Nothing more to add.

And as for Henry, he once again in a big match failed to live up to the hype. He had 2 very good chances that against lower opposition he would have scored, but on the big stage he fluffed it yet again.

I have to admit, that I wanted Arsenal to win and actually couldn't help myself and cheer when Campbell scored (the 1st time I have ever done that for another English team) but in the end they were beaten fair and square.

The ref might overall have been poor, but he was equally poor for both sides.

Id bet all the money I own, Colina would have played advantage and given a yellow card. How the game is crying out for a ref of his standards :<

Professional freekicks do not equal a red card, taking away an obvious goal-scoring-chance does.
So if the advantage had been played, there would have been a goal, and the chance would not have been taken away, and there wouldn't be a red card, as far as I know :p

Referee was atrocious. Arsenal played very well with 10-men. Barca un-sportsmanshiplike :(

Not deserved imo.

correct ;)

goal + yellow would have been the best desision without a dout, but if you noice it he blew the whistle as soon as eto fell, wich in this case left him no ulternative but to do as he did. as for ronaldinio well, even when he isnt active or playing to his best he's exreamly usefull as most teams including Arsenal put a player souly to mark him, meaning even when he's "standing still he pulls a player, and tbh you can hardly compare gerrard to ronaldino they are two very different players, ones a work horse the other the creative type, and before all you britts go off yelling bwa bwa gerads creative too..you know what i mean..!!

i wouldnt choose..i'd have em both :p

but let the poor arsenal fans "britts" have thier whine in peace, afterall they just lost a CL final..

soo.. just for you..." Reff was CRAP.!! demote him to the puppy leagues.that THIEF! Barca are glorified wannabies...oh and they smell too.."

ps no i'm not a barca fan...

Its a crying shame he retired because Fifa told him he was too old :(

Best referee, never any team bias
