the only time i click on banners is when u need to. ie:

there's a good online free rpg called runescape. when i play that i clikc the banners, it's free hence the banners are what keep it alive, it doesn't even take up my time letting a page load while i play, why not click the banners.

It's a widely accepted fact that revenues from banner ads are now so miniscule they are barely worth the effort

I make enough from banners to keep my sites going

lol, don't take this personally, no offence intended, but your site is hardly 'large' on the scale of any corporate firm. Hobby sites (such as yours) can survive on the pittance paid out by click-ads, but 'real' sites need to find substantial 'real' revenue streams

Perplex is right...BW takes more hits in a day than your site does for a year ;)

Don't patronise me - I work in online advertising

Agreed - my hobby site gets relatively little page views compared to BW, but it seems though that BW do not seem to cash in on sponsorship/advertising that they could do.

Gamespy, for example, rely heavily (solely?) on advertising.

I for one would not mind a few ads on the side of BW pages for more or better servers

Don't talk such utter bollocks then. It's a fact that click-ad is a pathetic, and dried-up revenue stream. Are you stuck in the middle of 1998?

I am not denying any of that.

But BW has its registered user demographics, a highly targeted audience, and high number of page views.

Surely it would be worth it when all you would have to do is point the banners externally
