I'll discuss this in my stand-up'ish way:
How does celebrating your religion, if we can call christmas that, offend other religions?
It's not like when i go out to celebrate my birhtday that some other guy comes up to me and goes "Hey you! Stop celebrating your birthday in a public place 'cause it's not mine! You offend my rights to have my own birthday!"
Or is there a page in the koran saying "And on the fifth day, mohammed burned down the green tree with shiny balls because it was evil". For all that is sparkly and has firns must become out of satans arse.
Or maybe it's the jewish that get offended, just because christians get gifts and they don't.
I think it's the chirstmas songs. 'cause we all know those praise the symbol of christianity. I mean, listen to the words of "rudolf the rednosed reindeer" and tell me it isn't about jesus. And tell me that "dashing through the snow" isn't about the all powerful god of christians.

tbh there are only a couple of religions that offend me (and i apologise to any members of said religions who may be reading, i dont hate you, i just dislike some of your practices) and they are jehovahs witnesses & christian scientologists because of the way they go about trying to press gang people in to listening to them, handing out leaflets in an agressive mannor and knocking on the door at 8pm and scaring me.
Right thats my religious prejudices out in the open, however if members of either of the above mentioned religions work in my place of employment and want to put up decorations for one of their holidays (i admit i dont actually know of any of their festivals) that would not offend me, if they went round the office with a bull horn spouting their beliefs (and this goes for any religion) and trying to "convert" me, then yes that would offend the hell out of me, but imo a few plastic trees, some tacky fat angels and a chocolate santa arnt really going to offend anyone and if your the type of person who would take offence at that then tbh i wouldnt want to work in the same office as you.
as i said a year ago it is our tradition and im pretty sure we (and the rest of the world tbh) would be horrified if such prohibitions were placed on a non christian country because it might offend the few christians who lived there.

personally i get a bit offended when girls (or boys) wear low riding jeans and thongs pulled up to their shoulder blades (call it skidmark phobia), i vote this practice gets outlawed from all public places.

That out of the way, yes, I agree with you. I don't mind people having their religion, after all, it's their choice to have. I do find it unbelievable myself how anyone can believe in such a thing without a shred of evidence, but then again, who am I to condemn them.
I also get irritated by people that can't seem to grasp the little detail that a religion isn't fact, and try to get their point on various subjects (not related to religion in any way) across by quoting of, or referring to various statements made in the bible. Although they might not try to convert you then, it adds nothing to the conversation.

Perhaps it does happen, I'm not sure as I have never actually heard of anyone not being allowed to celebrate christmas at work by putting up a few decorstions, with the exception of a chemical plant my friend works in who say its for health and safety reasons.
But companies that say they wont allow christmas celebrations so they don't offend anyone of a different religion are probably the same companies that make their workers pull shifts on sundays.
In other words, they don't give a flying fishfinger about xmas or offending people, they just cba with the hassle that cuts into their workers making a profit for them.

And who'se fault is it that its an uneducated opinion? Nothing has been done to calm the general public's growing fears about multiculturalism. The only thing we see in the news nowadays is stuff like the link in the original posts.

Partly indeed the gov'ments, and the media's fault, but also the people themselves. People appear to become too lazy to think for themselves, and rather just go by the opinion of that similarly uneducated bloke at the end of the street that just happens to have a slightly louder voice than the rest.
There isn't a single one at fault in my opinion. It's sadly an inherent trait of the homo sapiens to be a herd animal. This isn't necessarily bad, but I just wish one day people would be able to tell the difference between the bloke with the loud voice and exaggerated hand gestures, and the person who actually knows what he's talking about, when choosing their preferred leader.

Back on the topic of such things, this is of course ridiculous.
It's a shame as employers seem to be just as unhappy for having to do it:

No one religion is to blame - simply arseholes are. If you are so bitter and twisted to feel threatened, intimidated or annoyed by another religion's festival, particularly one which is a celebration, enough to take legal channels, you are simply that: an arsehole.
I work in a school, and one of our number is Jewish and she has explained to all the kids in assemblies about Hannukah. Was great to listen to - should I now sue her for 'forcing' her Judaism on me? Of course I shouldn't. It was really informative for me.
Simple rule - if you have a problem with Christmas (and quite frankly I would love somebody who do has to explain to me WHY), then ignore the decorations and feelgood factor and be miserable on your own without blaming others.
