Bale = Batman

Noticed a news story that Christian Bale has been chosen as the new batman - I'd post a link but I can't until I've spammed more I guess

I'm pretty happy with the choice, about time Bale landed a role that could make him a major star I think, any opinions?

Bale is an excellent choice imo. Hopefully this will ensure a return to a "dark" Batman. The writer is pretty good too.

Bale shone in American Psycho.

Anyway I'm off to return some videotapes

Totally agree. Bale is one the most suitable for the role. Thought he was pretty damn goon in equilibrium too. Even though everyone hated the film .

Bought it on R1 DVD before it came out here. Yeah its derivative but so fk.

As for Bale's accent? I think its v good personally and American Psycho is one of my favourite flicks. I read the book a year before and just had to forget the book existed. The film is a black comedy, the book is satire but a gorefest.

I think Bale's american accent is dire. Though not as dire as the American accent in The One, which was so bad I've actually repressed the name of the actor who did it.

I liked Bale alot as an actor when he was younger, but now they keep casting him as emotionally castrated americans I dislike him, and I guess Batman will be in this vein too. Behold me, for I am broody and conceal my emotions, and talk like a ten year old in the local production of Bugsy Malone.

Dont really like Batman but the I'm sure this Bates guy will do a good job. He was great in American Psycho.

Hopefully Nolan will do a good job of bringing Batman back to the darker image he had in the first film, he did a pretty good job with Memento even if it did take 2 viewings before I fully grasped it.

A few American Psycho homages would be nice too - like Batman chasing the Joker with a chainsaw, or Batman and Catwoman getting it on with a few of those Bale mirror poses - always makes me laugh when I see that

Maybe you saw Psycho and thought of Norman Bates.
Anthony Perkins as Batman interesting idea, that would almost rival val kilmer for his wooden Batman portrayal

True they where both dire, it all went downhill when Keaton & Burton signed off, though both movies suffered from the introduction of Chris O'Donnell to

Joel Schumacher killed the Batman series - I still haven't forgiven him. Hopefully the new writer & Bale will bring back the some of the darkness and depth of the original.
