Dude, please. Trust me. You can make great bacon in the oven.

Instructions:

1. Place bacon on non-stick baking tray
2. Place tray in oven
3. Turn oven up to 200C. Do not pre-heat.
4. Remove bacon after exactly 20 minutes
5. Eat

Edit: don't make me start a "The New Bacon" thread :D

This forum needs a baked goods section.

There was one amiright? I think CorNokZ started it with a banana cake once upon a time.

It was forgotten.

So, can it be compared with a banana split, just curious?

i always did my bacon in a frying pan until i got the oven tip on fh. Tastier and not as messy! I put aluminium foil under the bacon to avoid doing exessive dishes!

If you're THAT desperate for bacon, you'll eat it raw. Ever seen a lion use a microwave? I rest my case.

Effort vs reward, not about desperation. If i'm making oven stuff, i'll make it there. If i'm cooking stuff, pan it is. If i'm making something quick, microwave works and the result isn't that bad. Just like any other fast food, so it fits the use.

Carrot cake is almost ready to go in the oven now.. Almost looks better than the banana cake :D

Last time my mrs made carrot cake you needed a straw to consume it! Your banana cake looks great though.

Banoffee-Pie1.jpg

My absolute favourite species of pie - Banoffee

Ingredients
For the banoffee pie base:
  • 100g (4oz) butter
  • 250g (9oz) digestive biscuits, crushed
For the caramel:
  • 175g (6oz) butter
  • 75g (3oz) caster sugar
  • 397g can condensed milk
For the topping:
  • 4 small bananas
  • 284ml carton double cream, lightly whipped
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting
You will also need:
  • 20cm (8in) loose-bottomed cake tin, greased with the based lined
Instructions:
  1. Use a food blender to crush the biscuits into fine crumbs.
  2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan and stir in the crushed biscuits until the two bind together. Press the mixture into the base and sides of a 20cm (8in) loose-bottomed cake tin. Chill for 30 mins.
  3. For the caramel, melt the butter and sugar over a low heat until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is golden in colour. Add the condensed milk, stirring continuously and bringing to the boil. Keep the caramel boiling steadily for 2 mins, whilst stirring to make a thick golden caramel. Take the caramel off of the heat and cool.
  4. Slice the bananas and arrange most of them over the biscuit base then spread the caramel over the top. Chill for 1hr 30 mins, or until firm.
  5. When ready to serve, remove the pie from the tin and place on a serving plate. Fill a piping bag with the whipped cream and squeeze onto the banoffee pie, decorating as desired with the remaining bananas and a light dusting of cocoa powder.
Better for you than the more traditional caramel versions but tastes great.

I would suggest anyone who hasn't made caramel to buy premade, or prepare to wash a lot of pans with much vigor :p

Can't think of many things that are worse to make.

The trick with caramel is the second you pour the caramel out you fill the pan with water and put it back on the boil.
