They were never less than completely upfront about what they were selling. "We've got some left over shit that's never gunna sell, we'll plonk some random stuff in a box and send it to you". Honestly, I can't see why you have such a big problem with this - it's a good way to clear stock, and most people got their moneys worth. A fair few got quite a bit more than their moneys worth.

And face it, how many people did you tell when you found out about it?
I made the thread on here and got a few tens of folks looking and/or buying. If everyone did the same on this forum alone, that's a lot of people. And then again for other forums and messageboards.
That's some good advertising. It wouldn't suprise me if the odd mp3/mp4 player made it in on purpose just so more folks spread the word. It's bloody good advertising.
I've been using them for a while anyway for blank media, but that will attract a hell of a lot more folks to even view their sites. Similar I suppose to loss leading in supermarkets.
