Background crackle on recorded audio CDs

When I rip a CD to mp3 format (for use in my mp3 player), I often "re-burn" the tracks onto a CD for use in the car and my wife's portable CD player. The ripped CD tracks are pretty clear with no discernable background hiss or crackle but usually the re-burn CDs have this background noise. In louder tracks this isn't a problem but it's annoying in others. I''ve tried burning the CDs at a variety of speeds but this hasn't worked. Any ideas on how this could be eliminated? Thanks :)

(My specs are: XP Home Edition | TEAC CD-W540E which reads x48 writes x40 | Nero version 6302 | CDs are Sony CD-R 1-48x compatible)

Its probably just caused by all the conversions
Why dont you just copy the cd's straight away.
If you want to do as you do now (rip and "reburn") then you will need to rip to flac or another lossless compresion
