Back Up *nix System

My shiney new router is working (oooh!), and I'm scared I'm going to immediately break it.

However, not really knowing what to back up and what not to, can anyone offer some advice on what to use to do the backup with?

If it's something that can be set up to run remotely from another PC on the network, then even better!

Thanks,

Ben

kinde depends what version you use, i know suse has a build in backup tool, most distro's also have a nice cd resque system.
I tend to only backup the manualy made config files and my on home dir, just using tar and transfering it to another maching using ftp/scp/nfs/samba
And if i screw the system up realy badly i just reinstall and coppy my configfiles back over

I do much the same as Sibanac, though I tend to make one full backup just after an install for some odd reason. I also usually have one backup on disk and one on tape.
