I'd forgotten how badass and cool Marcus was :D

Thug #1: We don't talk to security. Why should we talk to you?
Marcus Cole: Because if you don't, then in five minutes, I will be the only person at this table still standing.
[Thug starts laughing]
Marcus Cole: . Five minutes after that, I'll be the only person in this room still standing.

Lennier: I see they trained you well back home.
Marcus Cole: Well, they said I was carrying around a lot of repressed anger.
Lennier: And?
Marcus Cole: I'm not repressed anymore!

:)

One that really sticks in my mind for some reason:

Marcus: One from three... leaves one
Franklin: Where I come from, one from three leaves two!
Marcus: Where I come from is a far more interesting place

:D

And not to forget:

Marcus: I spy with my little eye... something beginning with B
Franklin: ...
Marcus: Go on!
Franklin: Boxes.
Marcus: Riiiiight.... ok, I spy with my little eye, something beginning with M
Franklin: More boxes?!
Marcus: Right.... E ?
Franklin: You're kidding me.
Marcus & Franklin: Even more boxes! :D
Franklin: and thats when I shot him, your honour

:D

Unfortunately Season 1 is mainly scene setting, character introduction and the sewing of a few plot seeds.

Season 2 is when it starts getting good. Season 3 and half of 4 is fantastic. Second half of season 4 is less so and season 5 is almost standalone.

Just finished watching all of Galactica (which I absolutely loved), so now need something else to watch when I'm procrastinating from law work. This should do the job nicely.

I haven't watched B5 for years. I have been meaning to get the boxset for ages, it's just one of those things I never get around to buying. I think I will pay amazon a visit this afternoon.

season 1 was a bit rubbish but you need to watch it to get the background
Season 2 gets better but still was a bit meh until the last 3 episodes
Season 3 is awesome when the president declares martial law

It's well worth persisting to there :D

One complaint for me, so far i'm at the end of s4. And its is with the battles i would like them to last longer and be abit more involved. I know its really difficult to cgi a mass battle in space for a weekly tv show but so far its the only way i would improve it. And maybe a subplot to make s1 a bit more interesting ;)

I agree with others that they started to loose the plot with the Shadow War. The way that finished was a wee bit laughable. Sheriden escaping a massive nuclear bomb blast then Que highly evolved alien, "it's time for you to cross the veil, naughty shadow and angels thingies". War over!

A couple of the recent movies have been extremely poor as well. Still is was a quality Sci Fi show and if it is ever resurected with todays effects I'm sure it would be great.

I forgot how cool, yet slimy, Bester was. Great character.

Aye, Walter Koenig was just brilliant as Bester. I really looked forward to the episodes where he showed up. The only outstanding episode on Season 5 was "The Corps is Mother, The Corps is Father". They even changed the logo during the opening credits from the B5 shield to the Psi Corps logo. Some of the other season 5 stuff was interesting, most was filler that was done in a rush because (if I've got my history right) JMS had taken on other work not expecting there to be a season 5.

One thing I really did like from season 5 was in the last episode where we hop forward to the future and a lab technician is creating holograms of the B5 command staff to use them for nefarious purposes. Unfortunately he does too good a job of recreating them and hologram Garibaldi manages to put a spanner in the works. This to me was great sci fi.

Season 1 was spoiled by Commander Cardboard. I think I wanted to twat Sinclair nearly as much as Riker from Next Generation. Apparently the CGI budget couldn't quite stretch to putting an expression on his face.

JMS cannot write comedy though. I cringed at the heavy-handed humour. That said, when Penn and Teller show up, they manage to get a great one in at the end of the episode.

Despite its many flaws, B5 is still one of my favourites. I've got all the DVD boxsets and revisit them from time to time. B5 was epic and wasn't afraid to do a big story, to which much subsequent TV sci fi now owes credit. Bare in mind that TV studios like stuff that is nice 'n' easy to syndicate and that they don't need to worry about what order its shown. B5 kinda blows that apart with its very long story arcs.

Not sure how Joe will do as WW writer. As much as I respect what he has achieved, he's very uneven in his output. Still, its an interesting choice and I'll be interested to see how this is received :)
