lol have to say this made me crack up a bit.

A deserved win Avram?

Yes

What in particular pleased you about this performance?

I am pleased.

What in particular pleased you?

[A long pause] I don't know.

Is it a relief to win here?

Yes.

You seem lost for words by the performance. Are you more satisfied with the performance or the victory?

Both.

You seem distracted. Do you have a problem?

No problem.

Is there an issue?

No. I am ok. I have nothing to say.

Do you have a message for the Chelsea fans?

Do you represent the Chelsea fans?

They [the fans] must believe you are still in the title race, do you have a message for them?

No message.

Does this result mean you are back in it now?

I don't know.

How many steps have you climbed to undertake this press conference?

I don't know.

You seem less voluble than usual. Is it because of Sky TV moving the game to a Thursday?

Maybe it's because of you. I don't know. I am ok.

You are saying that you don't know if you are still in the title race?

No.

Is it easier to say nothing Avram?

I don't know what to answer. It is a good question. I don't know what to answer.

Is this because of Sky?

No. Sky is ok. I enjoy watching them.

Is it a protest against newspapers?

No. Why?

Why else would you come in and refuse to answer our questions?

I answer every question.

You are two points behind Manchester United and you don't know if you are still in the title race?

No.

Have you told the players that you don't know if you are back in the title race?

What I tell the players is something else. You want me to tell you what I say to the players?

We just want you to answer the question really. Are you in the title race?

I don't know.

Would you not like to gain some positive publicity for the result rather than this bizarre silence?

I'm sorry. You can write whatever you want and I can answer what I want.

Do you feel under pressure to deliver a trophy. Is that the reason for the monosyllabic answers?

No.

Are you upset? Do you feel you have been misrepresented?

Maybe I am upset because it is a bad season.

Did Michael Essien faint?

He had some problems, but he is ok.

Michael Ballack?

Injured.

What's his problem?

Ask the doctor.

He's not here Avram.

We'll call him then.

Have you ever played the yes/no game Avram?

[Grant gets up and leaves.]

That's the only way you should deal with the press and their consistent stupid question :D

sports interviewers are all nob heads.

on sky sports last night

Ryan Sidebottom 'blah blah blah, i've still got more to offer england'
interviewer 'so, you think you've got more to offer england?'
sidebottom 'no, i was lieing two seconds ago' (this line may be made up)

you see why the players get pissed off sometimes.

I've always wondered about:

A deserved win Avram?

:eek7:

No...we didn't deserve it at all. We should send it to underprivileged kids in Uruguay.

he's no gordon strachan

Reporter: "Gordon, can we have a quick word please?"
Strachan: "Velocity." (walks off)

Reporter: "So, Gordon, in what areas do you think Middlesbrough were better than you today?"
Strachan: "What areas? Mainly that big green one out there."

Reporter: Welcome to Southampton Football Club. Do you think you are the right man to turn things around?
Strachan: No. I was asked if I thought I was the right man for the job and I said, "No, I think they should have got George Graham because I'm useless."

Reporter: Is that your best start to a season?
Strachan: Well I've still got a job so it's far better than the Coventry one, that's for sure.

Reporter: Are you getting where you want to be with this team?
Strachan: We're not doing bad. What do you expect us to be like? We were eighth in the league last year, in the cup final and we got into Europe. I don't know where you expect me to get to. Do you expect us to win the Champions League?

Reporter: Gordon, you must be delighted with that result?
Strachan: You're spot on! You can read me like a book.

Strachan: I've got more important things to think about. I've got a yogurt to finish by today, the expiry date is today. That can be my priority rather than Agustin Delgado.

Reporter: This might sound like a daft question, but you'll be happy to get your first win under your belt, won't you?
Strachan: You're right. It is a daft question. I'm not even going to bother answering that one. It is a daft question, you're spot on there.

Reporter: Bang, there goes your unbeaten run. Can you take it?
Strachan: No, I'm just going to crumble like a wreck. I'll go home, become an alcoholic and maybe jump of a bridge. Umm, I think I can take it, yeah.

Reporter: There's no negative vibes or negative feelings here?
Strachan: Apart from yourself, we're all quite positive round here. I'm going to whack you over the head with a big stick, down negative man, down.

Reporter: Where will Marion Pahars fit into the team line-up?
Strachan: Not telling you! It's a secret.

Reporter: You don't take losing lightly, do you Gordon?
Strachan: I don't take stupid comments lightly either.

Reporter: So, Gordon, in what areas do you think Middlesbrough were better than you today?
Strachan: What areas? Mainly that big green one out there...

Strachan was on Sky on Sunday morning. He saw John Terry's goal and said he was impressed that Terry goes up expecting to score. He contrasted this to Claus Lundekvam the Saints central defender who goes up for every dead ball and never ever looks remotely like scoring. He said if there was a dead body lying in the penalty area the ball would hit it on the head several times a season which he said is more than Lundekvam can manage. He said referees should book Lundekvam for timewasting every time he goes up for a corner. When the co-commentator said if Lundekvam was watching Strachan was only joking. Strachan assured him he was deadly serious.

Following another link on that site brings you to English Debate: 10 Worst Transfers Of The Season.

10) Claudio Pizarro, Steve Sidwell and Tal Ben-Haim (Bayern Munich, Reading and Bolton Wanderers to Chelsea)
9) Robert Earnshaw (Norwich City to Derby County)
8) Younes Kaboul (Auxerre to Tottenham Hotspur)
7) Rolando Bianchi (Reggina to Manchester City)
6) Diomansy Kamara (West Bromwich Albion to Fulham)
5) Craig Bellamy (Liverpool to West Ham United)
4) Florent Malouda (Olympique Lyonnais to Chelsea)
3) David Nugent (Preston North End to Portsmouth)
2) Darren Bent (Charlton Athletic to Tottenham Hotspur)
1) Joey Barton (Manchester City to Newcastle United)

Being a Cardiff City fan I have to take umbrage at the following in relation to Earnshaw:

"What magnificent mind, then, thought to spend a club-record fee of £3.5 million on a striker who had only ever proven anything in the lower leagues?"

erm...

* He was second only to Thierry Henry as the player with the best goals-to-minutes ratio in Premiership history (prior to the 2007–08 season i.e. when they signed him).

* He is the only player ever to have scored hat-tricks in the Premiership, Divisions 1, 2 and 3, the FA Cup, the League Cup and as an international:

That to me sounds like a proven track record. Oh well. To be fair he has had a shite season, but I'm of the opinion that strikers need to be played. It takes a very special player to be a bench man and be able to keep their form (Solskjaer for example). There's talk of him coming back to Cardiff in the summer and I think Cardiff fans would be thrilled.

Any players on there that other people think shouldn't be? Or indeed any other players who should be?

Everyone appears to blame Grant for not being as charasmatic as your former manager.
I think that press conference takes him a good step closer to the "special one" tbh..
I certainly like him more for having done it!

Strachan is still a legend tho!

Question for chelski fans, if you manage to win both PL and CL. Do you still want to replace Avram?

Yes - because he doesn't inspire much confidence in the fans, and perhaps to a greater extent the players.

He quite happily took the credit during the christmas fixture congestion, when Chelsea came in at half time 1-0 down to Fulham, the game ended 1-3. When in fact it was Stevie Clarke who put the rocket up their arse at half time.

It's still Mourinho's team and the playing style has not changed since he took over.

I thought the plan was for Avram to move upstairs and get a new Manager anyways, that was the talk early on anyways.

Hopefully. The guy is well mannered, polite and rarely outspoken but unfortunately he is not the man to manage a club that has expectations such as Chelsea.

Hes taken them to the semi finals of the champions league, with the final within their grasp, and Chelsea are second in the premier league and not out of the title race. He has gone about his business with dignity, even with all these stories flying around about his future. He doesnt make embarassing outbursts like SAF, Benitez and wenger.

If anything, hes a credit to the club. Its just some chelsea fans are dead against him because he replaced the messiah. He could do the quadruple and some chelsea fans would want him out. From what ive heard from some chelsea fans on another forum, he is very well liked and respected withing the dressing room.

I still maintain that the majority of the success is down to it being Mourinho's squad still.

He is a credit to the club but i feel someone with a greater pedigree would be more succesful.

Not like that at all.

Mourinho had something special, which motivated the players and encouraged them to play with a bit more passion & on a high skill level.

Grant seems to just get them to play to win games by a margin.

But so far, in any big tie, they have lost.
