Was it just me that was completely under-awed by that then?

Alien should have kicked his arse in hand to claw combat.

Nah. In the comics an experienced predator (as they get better they get less & less weapons, ending up with only claws + spear) can take on a single alien with no sweat! Dunno if the idiot director has changed things from that though!

Not sure about this film, track record says it will be a big pile of pants!

Using the comics as a reference, the Predator's wrist blades wouldn't have melted since they're designed to stand up to Alien blood. So no, doesn't look like they're taking much notice of the comics.

Yeah they are supposed to be intentionally hunting aliens, so, IMHO, it would be a good idea to make sure that any melee weapons I use won't be totally ruined by the acid blood, obviously I'm thinking this through too much! ;)

Shame as the comics were ok, not great, but entertaining enough. Aonther thing ruined by Paul W.S. (Will make it Shit) Anderson!

Heh, can't wait for this now. Hopefully they will get it right and the Predator will hand Alien it's ass on a silver tray. The Alien is after all just a big shrieking girl.

impho it's going to be shit. one big cgi-driven fight glued together with wooden one-liners and possibly a comic sidekick thrown in for good measure. bit of a shame, but tbh I expected no less.

I'm expecting the final scene to have them team up and fight with these giant robot things in a city scape that you can tell is really only 3ft high polystyrene.

pg-13=kiddie movie, fucking disgraceful :(

Which'll probably mean a 15 rating. Which is understandable, given as most of the violence and gore will be from creatures not of this planet - and therefore making it less impacting.

Think before we speak?!

Aliens v Predator? What a ridiculous idea for a film; just an excuse for lots of guns, blood and special effects. One to miss.

Clearly you've been ignoring the comics, games and hoards of people shouting for this film to be made for the last 10 years.

Seriously, I don't get it. I like films that have a story to tell, a plot that unwinds, tension that builds up, good character acting. Something tells me none of those things will be making an appearance in this film.

To be fair, you can't go round looking for a film which activates your brain all the time. It's good to just switch off for an hour or two sometimes. The thing is, with AVP, it just looks fucking shit. A trailer is supposed to make a film look good, not some dated waste of shit, which was choreographed in five minutes.

You must like some films which don't have a complex storyline/character/whatever?

AvP is a fantastic premise for a film, but Paul "I'm shit" Anderson has got his grubby mitts on it so I'm afraid its going to be crap. On a plus note, from what I've seen it doesn't appear too CGI heavy, which is what made the last Alien film shit tbh.

CGI Aliens are not scary. A man in a rubber suit with good lighting, directing and editing, is.

You should stick to boring turd like the Shawshank Redemption then.

I thought it was a bag of old toss. I didn't connect with any of the characters at all, in fact I was kind hoping Tim Robbins drowned in the sewage at the end of the film. Would have amused me after all those years digging the tunnel to crawl out of it and asphixiate in poo.

Great film. Consistently comes in the top 10 films of all time by film critics ... at least according to a piece I read in our local paper. Escapist no brainer films can be enjoyable, and I have certainly seen some in my time (Escape from New York anyone?) but I certainly don't salivate about seeing them.

Shawshank was on at the weekend and I actually got quite excited about the prospect of seeing it. The fact that you don't like it says a lot about you bud :)

Ahhh a film elitist. "I'm better than you because I watch this arty film".

I love the Shawshank Redemption, but one thing I've never been into is critisising somebody else's personality just because they don't happen to like the same films as I do. Critisise the films themselves, but not the person. By definition, an opinion cannot be wrong.

Since when was Shawshank an arty film? I don't like Arthouse, but I do like a good film with a good plot. Special effects workouts with lots of blood, bangs and crashes don't do a lot for me.

I agree about the opinion thang, but then my opinion is just as valid as somebody else. My saying that I don't understand why people salivate about a forthcoming brainless action film doesn't make it any less enjoyable for them.
