Fs I dont want another tale of "simple village folk" rallying together and surviving against all the odds. Stupid hollywood audience and their inability to stomach "unhappy" endings is ruining a lot of good movies. I wanna see the predators and aliens really going at each other. If there are humans then theyve at least got to be hardcore space marines like in the Alien movies. Not John Everyman's. Personally I'd rather the humans were cut out altogether and the whole movie was done with just predator subtitles

yeah but then that would be actually even more lame becuase if it was him don't you think there would be a moment of recognition in alien where he was like "mother i know what this bastard is!! we got a truck load of em invaiding my village oh about 20 years ago" but tbh i think alien was set in 2070 (ish) so he'd have had to have been in that cryo tube for a damn long time, theyll prolly have it as his grandpa or something crappy.

BUMPING THIS because the trailer are out IGN: Aliens vs. Predator- Requiem Trailer, Videos and Movies

Lot's of humans appear to be dieing! woooo! Plus it has Michelle Dessler from 24 as the lead woman/new ripley <3 good stuff so far.

The plot outline says that the inhabitants of this small town have to battle for survival. I pray to god they fail. I can't stomach the thought of a bunch of whining teenagers triumphing over a fucking alien/predator. Teenagers don't do that kind of thing, they cry/scream/wet themselves then get spiked through the face.

This film has a higher rating than AvP1, so I'm hoping this means that a happy ending doesn't have to be on the cards.

Actually no, the whole point wasn't that. Predators come to earth for various hunting reasons, an elite predator would be MOST interested in a town full of aliens.

The initiation of the younger predators happens on many planets(usually not earth) and is done in a more religious setting. The rest of the predators hunt whenever they, well, basically f*cking want to

Only thing i found interesting is the preddy throwing the chick on the wall while the chick seemed unarmed. Rather, uncharasteristic.

Looks nice, well from what i saw in a youtube trailer and seems like it's going more towards the old horror style. Atleast it's dark and peeople get f*cked, which is always good.

i loved the first one in its cheesy way (yes it goes against all the lore of aliens and predators) but it was still fun non the less.

and have been waiting for its sequel since it got released, its an 18, and done by differant people, so it has potential

Did anyone else notice, on the monitor in the bottom right it say's "O.W.L.F", which stands for Other World Life Forms, which is the organisation that Keyes worked for in Predator 2 (yes im a geek)

Apparantly there is also a green-band trailer being shown in cinema's in US, which is mainly showing the aliens, and all the talk is how creepy/atmospheric & scary it looks. Saying it looks close to Alien and Aliens root's.

Im keeping my fingers crossed that it'll rock, but im biased, ITS ALIENS AND PREDATOR'S

AvP handled continuity by only having 1 survivor, and she was stuck in the fucking arctic at that, so odds are she didn't make it back alive. The comics had similar situations. By the looks of things the town may get nuked by the US in this one, so there's the continuity for you.

praetorian was a cross breed of a queen and a predator,
The concept art of what they are putting in the movie looks like neither a predalien from the comics or the movies, but closer to a praetorian from the original AVP game on the Jaguar, i assumed wrongly that they would at least keep to the original art, my mistake

The comics had a consistent character (for the most part), the setting is pretty close to the film but the problem is
a) its in the future, on a livestock colony on a far away planet
b) The predator she teams up with is one of the best hunter of all time, thats why he gives her his mark at the end of the book giving her the right ot be a hunter because they stopped the uncontrolled spread of the aliens (who can live in any condition etc etc)
(aside fromt he obvious problems, this is just the storyline and the saga rather than factual problems like a million aliens popping out of a handful of corpses )
A youth wouldnt have a mark until they have been initiated therefore the one in the movie had none to give

They also are only allowed to use the weapons which are equal to their prey because they are banished if they dont, thats why in the comics the predator only kills a unarmed person in hand ot hand, and a person with a gun with their other toys which is why you dont see them using their leet weapons to win

This is all based on the Steven Perry books rather than the bastardisation hollywood has created

But tbh i didnt really expect much from the avp movie, it was full of second rate actors, the heroin was the directors gf and the scrip was from the guy who wrote Armageddon. It unfortunately was doomed to be mediocre, at best a action flick. There is a more gory version available, rated R which i did enjoy more than the softened down version.
Fortunately it had enough action to hold the attention of the pre-pubecent hordes of "i want action, and i want it now, fuck the storyline" which films are catered to nowdays therefore did ok in the cinema, much the same as AVP2 and Aliens 3 which lets be honest, were not all that good

As for AVP2 it's rated R in the us but is a 15 in the UK, so i suspect it will just be another "humans run for survival before the bomb drops" special that hollywood is happy to churn out with about as much imagination as a demented rodent.

I'm fully prepared to hate this movie if it turns into another "The humans save the day/escape/live happily ever after" fest. The only reason I'm excited is that it seems to me that the humans don't stand a hope in hell. I'm praying that all the humans die, or at best, only the one main woman survives (ripley-esque).
