AVI to DVD?

I have some TV eps that I missed on Sky+ so acquired elsewhere. I've watched them myself but now the in-laws say they missed the same eps and only have a DVD player. I haven't written an AVI/MKV to optical media in donkeys' years. What software would you use?

been using this for yonks on linux http://www.rastersoft.com/programas/devede.html theres a link there for a windows version as well
