There's a way to disable signatures, but is there a way to disable avatars and embedded images?

Also the size of certain cells causes some text to wrap and it just looks awkward, if you care. In these cases, where the username is too long in a forum post or where the website URL is too long in the profile page.

Apparently the avatar stuff may be possible via modification. Will try and get Deebs to install it.

To expand on this request, would it be possible to mod the forums to have a mobile friendly view without using forumrunner and the like?

What Clown has requested would be perfect, all images and videos displayed as links, no avatar. If this could be done through some wizardry that would be aces.

I'm not fussed about my mobile data. I just don't want to see people's avatars and pictures of dicks while I'm on the internet.

Rather than start a new thread...

Is there any chance we can have GIFs as avatars again? Even as part of the subscription package?

Hmm, just noticed that if you click on my avatar it is an animated Gif so it seems to be a display issue on the page.

Please don't allow animated .gifs on the forum pages themselves, they're awful. It's somuch better having a page that isn't trying to distract you from the text.

It is not a display issue, the software is designed this way.

Don't worry they won't be displayed within the thread pages.

Just to add to the Avatar thread ... for some reason mine won't change - I've deleted it, uploaded a new one ... but the old one (cowboy cat) returns!

Did you delete your "current" Avatar? Try that and then upload your new one....

You are displaying as Michael Caine on the forums. Force a hard refresh in your browser.

Tried that - doesn't work. Loaded up the forum on different browsers (for the first time) ... all of them have the cowboy cat. Could this be cached somewhere outside of my computer?

It is cached but a forced refresh will fix that. Let me try IE (yuck), nope, works fine in IE as well.

It's still displaying the cat for me, I did a force refresh on chrome.

Can you load up firebug or something and look at the headers of the avatar? Failing that, can you load FF or IE and try please?
