AV Receiver Video Routing

So, does anyone here have an AV receiver that they use to route their video connections (please say you do Big G :D).

I've just bought a lovely Denon 2310 and it's lovely, but the reason I bought it was for the above and it's having a problem there. I've got an Xbox(Svid), PS2(Svid), X360(Component) and PC(HDMI) all going in to the amp and coming out in one HDMI link to my tele. Problem is, when I upconvert (note convert, not scale) the signal to HDMI I get some not so great lag. Pretty noticeable and totally eliminated when I run directly in to the TV.

The amp offers an option to convert, or convert and upscale. It doesn't seem to make a difference if I upscale the image or not, upconverting from analogue to HDMI seems to cause the problem. I've had trouble finding any info about this online and so wondered if it's just some setting I've fucked up and if anyone has any experience with this?

Cheers in advance!

Sadly not Nath, my amp works fine; I have an Onkyo amp that does upconversion from many connections (regardless of input type) to one HDMI output (which fucking rocks). I have tried my old Humax PVR (svideo) and Nintendo Wii (composite video) which have both output through the HDMI to the projector without any issues.

Sorry chump :(, maybe try over on avforums? They'd be able to tell you much quicker than the Freddies i'd imagine.

It's not some lip sync delay thingy that you've forgotten to turn off.... ?

I've tried AVForums but no one seems to have a clue :S. I'll give Denon a call tomorrow to find out more.

Someone did mention they had a Wii running find on composite through the amp but I wonder if resolution is a factor. Thing is, if you've got an Onkyo that works perfectly then that means it's not beyond the realms of possibility for these things to just work, I was working under the assumption that perhaps upconversion just means lag. Hopefully my Denon is either faulty or I've missed something.

If not, I'm just gunna claim it's not fit for purpose and then start checking out Onkyos :).

Works fine on my Denon (right out of the box) so you should indeed call them....

I'll have to check, I seem to recall that on my Onkyo I can turn on upconversion or scaling per input, so it doesn't affect the HDMI inputs at all.

Yeah, I managed to get rid of the lag on the HDMI input from my PC by disabling the conversion and just passing the signal through to the TV, however that doesn't help with my s-vid and component links which need to be converted to HDMI.
