Using work internet, IE and Firefox auto-detect proxy/connection settings, however some pieces of software (read mIRC) don't seem to have an auto-detect function, is there anyway I can get firefox/IE/some-tool-or-other to spit out the connection settings they've auto-magically detected?

Possibly the web developer toolbar in Firefox would tell you that, or you could look at the output of netstat while fetching a page (ugly but you get the truth!)

After hunting through google, I stumbled across something called "Web Proxy Auto Disocvery Protocol", which is what IE/Firefox use to auto-detect their settings, to get the settings file I went to http://wpad.domain/ and it downloaded a file with the proxy in :)

However they seem to have blocked IRC :(

Anyone got shell access I can nick ;)
