Interviewed an auschwitz survivor today. Very interesting chap, not exactly stories that you'd want to pass around, but I have immeasurable respect for somebody who can survive for 18 months in such a hellhole, and still raise a smile for the camera. He still had his tattoo - to him it was something to be proud of, to show people proof that the holocaust actually happened.

He was rescued at the end of the war (very last day) by the Soviet army.

On Wednesday, on a completely different programme, I'm in London with Harry Hill, a 90-odd year old cyclist who is getting some award from Bucks Palace to do with the olympic centenary. He shook hands with Hitler in the 1936 olympics!

What an odd coincidence. I'm really looking forward to what he has to say about Hitler.

Did I see you on the touchline for the England v. Scotland* rugby game, Tom?

Anyone mentioning the kick-in that Scotland received will get a one day ban.

Not being in any way nazi colaborator or anything, but have to say that rising from a kicked out art student to a "third reicht" leader is worth atleast a pat on the back.

He just went in a "bit" of a wrong direction there... *cough*

Laz : The first half was dismal. My gran can play better rugby.

The second half was a bit more impressive though. At least it was an exciting match. :)

Definitely: the fact that he also managed to take a struggling nation and turn it into the controlling power of a large chunk of Europe is also worthy of respect. He was an impressive orator and an inspiring leader.

He just also happened to be (to quote Izzard) "a genocidal fuckhead".

Just curious.

It isn't until the politically correct spazmongs arrive.

Hitler brought Germany back from the brink of bankruptcy. He was of course a psycho and had the worst moustache ever, but he was a clever bloke.

Now back to rugby and why Scotland shouldn't play it......;)

go to glasgow and get something which name escapes me, but its a battered sausage wrapped in donner meat, and then deep fried. contains 1000 calories. And they advise you to only have one a week.

but battered mars bars are gorgeous
