Just spotted this over at HardOCP and thought I would post, stunning picture of the Northern Lights as seen from space.

Fair point. Each of us believes what we want to...though I don't see the point in faking such a picture. Its like faking a picture of a cloud, or a flower.

Believe it or not, those things look mroe spectacular in finland from below. Though, don't know how they look from above finland at that time.

Amazing still, makes you feel, small'ish.

it looks even better from the ground :) its luvly! But to the facts, if you see lots of it, it only indicates that lots of electromagnetic particles is hitting the magnetic field in our atmosphere. And that can slam out electrical components (for over 9 sec)

was a long time since I saw a good aurora borealis

guess it have something with refusing to go outside during the winter now that I am older and have realised that cold and snow suck ass

Sorry chodax but that really doesn't look so real :( Taking the picture itself and checking the colours of the stars seems to show a lot of them are the 'exact' same colour. I may be wrong, for which I'm always open to but it also looks way way too easily computer generated. Still an amazing picture however, from which I'd not be able to think up of on my own.

Love the pictures of the Borealis; thought it deserved a capital letter ;)
