thanks

can anyone supply me with some more info on the the two compared though?

I thought toughness would be better for hp, but does aug con offer anything else than just hp? I mean does it increase your physical resistance in any way? I dont mean like +% resists ofc! just your natural ability to take damage?

or is it just a lower version of toughness? :)

con is rubbish, toughness rocks :D

The exact amount given by both these RAs depend on your hps and con.The short answer is the only way to find out is to invest and see... From memory my mage got something like 15hps for aug con 1 and 35hps from toughness 1. Similar but larger results from my hero.

afaik con doesnt affect anything but hps, so I would avoid aug con unless youve already raised toughness a lot and got some mad idea about a meat shield that wants to waste rps ;)

Erm no, really i would think a bit more before rubbishing something...

It will depend on your class as to which is better.

For an example lets take a warrior with roughly 9 hit poits per con under the new system.

Toughness 3 - 150 hit points - 10 realm points
150/10 = 15 hits per realm point.

Aug con 3 - 22 points con 198 hits - 10 realm points
198/10 = 19.8 hits per realm point

Obviously this is an extreme example, however with other hybrid classes which get around 5 hits per con there are better results gained from using a combination of the two i.e. aug con 2 and toughness 2.

For a pure caster toughness is undoubtable better but you are wrong to dismiss aug con completely out of hand.

Easiest way is to remove some item which gives CON and write down how much HP you loose if you remove XX con from the item. Make sure you dont remove also HP (or alternatively remove those from your calculations xD).

you could also suicide and see how much HP you loose on -3 CON but in general its better (and cheaper) to remove 'more CON' because the numbers arent pure integers.

IIRC Infil was approx 3-4 HP / con-point, 9 HP/con sounds extremely high even for a warrior, but Im unsure about it really.

How do you work out how many hps you get per point of con? Thats the base question here, you say 'roughly 9/con on a warrior under the new system', if you could explain that a bit more I would be a happy bunny :)

If you get 9/con then that would work in favour of aug con 1 > toughness 1 as first RA for most hit points, a much simpler example, and if thats the case for your class then I stand corrected.

9 hp/con for a warrior is totally wrong though.
Any selfrespecting warrior can break the 300 con easily when buffed ( kobbie with 10 at creation, 75 from items, 155 from buffs makes 313 con or smt), which would put him at over 2700 hp's. This would be without any con overcaps or + hp or + hp cap on his sc.
A dwarf ( 10 con at creation) would top out at 369 con or 3721 hp's that way.
I have yet to hear of those kind of hp's.

theres more too it than just 9 hp per con

i think, this isnt all fact but from 0-50 con i think doesnt come into play, its why you warriors with 50 con on creating dont have 450 hp.

And also i think there is a soft cap on how con effects HP and after i think 250 or 300 con, the effect it has on HP is reduced, i could be completely off but i do have a feeling its something on them lines.

My reaver i was testing yesterday i think it was 5 or 6 hp per con, i was trying to decide whether to overcap my HP by 28 or con by 6, i got more hp for raising the con

As posted before, the first portion of a your con does not have that effect. However we have tested it on a level 50 warrior on 1.81 and it does indeed work out to 9.2 hits per point of additional con that you put in your template.

When i said roughly I only said it to keep decimals out of the equation for simplicity.

There are calculators for these things, I know a guildm8 of mine made one, I'll see if I find it.

for tanks its 4.4 hp/con, 4.8 at CL5, afaik.

thats far from true

read what i wrote about the reaver which is on a lower con to hp table than a heavy tank.

I just tested this yesterday by the way.

test you 4.4 hp theory again and do the test on someone with 100 con and someone with 300+ con

my skald gets exactly 4 hp/con

from 1570 hp -> 1482 hp (unbuffed) when removing 22con.

skald isnt exactly a tank, more the music class so it would be on a lower table than tanks, but saying that it would probably be on the same table as what the original poster was looking for.

thought you were saying that all tanks are on 4 hp per con...
