Have any of you experience in setting up your own auction website? If so what software did you use?

I'm looking at setting up a website for a charitable organisation where they can auction many of their items. Rather than have an ebay style shop it'd be much nicer if they could retain total control.

Looking for something fully featured/customisable, secure and stable. And as it's a charity, preferably something open source - to keep down on costs and 'cause it's, well, a little more ethical

Any ideas welcome!

I've not used any of them but several results come up if you run a search for "auction" on Hot Scripts - The net's largest PHP, CGI, Perl, JavaScript and ASP script collection and resource web portal.

Personally I think you're better off using eBay mate eBay for Charity

I suggested the Ebay thang but it was shot down.

Personally I agree with you but in the end it's the client's decision.

Fair play mate, in that case I suggest that you exempt yourself somehow from being responsible for the scripts performance.
