nope, tis very scary, for the main peeps in the groups.

this is getting way out of hand by the FBI, they claim $12 billion revenue is lost via warez, but by downloading a game, how would they be losing my £30? how can you lose something you never had?
they dont seem to understand the difference between theft and copyright infringement.

there also seems to be an issue about entrapment to catch them, as the FBI set up a topsite for the big groups.

fucksake they cant kill Osama, so they have to do something which harms noone(imo) and screw up xx lives

thats another nail in the coffin for freedom

fuck it im gonna move to Afganistan, it seems freer there than in the 'free world' these days

No warez is a load of bollocks and does cost people.
DO you realise epople put time, effort and money into making these things? They are right to expect a return on a commercial product and not have copies distributed freely around the net.

Yes this wont stop software piracy at all, and people will still d/l warez to thier hearts content. But these massive warez groups do cost poeple money, they are not d/ling one game. These people are making it possible for poeple to d/l cracks and rips of many a game to hundreds of people.

yes i understand that the compaines wont get as much revenue as they would want, but the majority of people on PC's prolly havent heard of warez, or know where to download them, so they will buy the software.

and once the developer has shipped the project, they get very little in royaltees from the publisher, so once the developer has been paid the initial sum for shipping, it wont get much money from sales anyway, so they will write new software to get paid for that.

and do you think xxx application is worth £500+, even though all the hard work is put in?

EDIT: do you also think that warez is on par with say the acts from 11th september, as the FBI class warez as terrorism. That to me is an absolute joke, they are effectly saying that 'warez' is worse than murder

As in that cartoon:

This will be just like America's war on drugs, I mean, it's not like you can get drugs in the US any more.

That was one good cartoon.

Nevermind the fact that the 'illegal' copying of software has greatly helped both the rise of Microsoft's dog of an operating system and Sony's Playstation, amongst others.

Or that you'd think the FBi would/should have better things to do than chase down the pernicious 'Warez gangs' of the Internet.

Recent, tragic, law enforcement agency failures notwithstanding, you have to wonder at a system of law that will probably send at least some of these individuals away for a very long time and yet let murders and rapists out in short order.

I can see the Daily Mail Headlines now...

And yes this post is a mess, but I am knackered.

What arse-flakes.

Warez is theft, ppl. I don't want to hear about 'but I wouldn't have bought the game anyway'... piracy is theft.

Not that I'm above it occasionally, mind.... ;)
