ATI Radeon...again <sigh>

Installed a new gfx card (Tyan tachyon 9600pro) with latest drivers.
It runs the game great but tends to freeze on the character selection screen. There's no chance to recover the PC and a reset is required.
I've read most posts here but can't see a similar problem regarding the character creation screen.

Ideas?

Happening to me to. Freezing once i enter the world.

I have a 9600pro and latest drivers.
It works fine for me.

Frogster, what are you system specs? i have a 9600 Pro but it freezes like 30 seconds into the game? Also what Direct X you have?

ATI 9600 Pro 128

Catas are : 3.8
DirectX is 9b

In smartgart option ..set AGP speed to X4 and fastsprites on off.
