Assist and... fun?

Consider a typical RvR Battle:

1. MA tank engages

2. Press button: /assist MA Tank

3. Press: Stick

4. Press: Anytime style "xxxxx"

5. 'random noob was killed by Tank gang'

6. repeat from step 1 until all 'badguys' eat grass

...

I dont feel like playing a game anymore...
It looks more like an automated process to me - NO Fun at all!

Why dont mythic let us 'chain' macros so that all the above steps can be done with JUST ONE button?

And plz argue that the above process needs elite skillz :p


ps0:Nowdays soloing = Best Buffbot wins:p
ps1: Mythic should consider to REMOVE all AREA EFFECT CC Spells from RvR... and do something about the almighty 'DETERMINATION'

Just because someone has a Savage doesn't make them an automatic twat. Look, someone has a Savage but chooses to play another class. It's hard to resist the WTFPWNED side of the game, but some people do it. OK?

Try playing a support class if you want a challenge, like say a sorc or bard.
Or a minstrel is fun because they can assist when they want but are encouraged to break from assisting and interupt with dd's mezz's etc, great fun :)

One of the reasons i like to solo or be in small groups.
Groups that may be me, a shammy, and a couple of whatever other classes.
Not much assisting. The few in the group has to play their class as best as they can and use all the abilities that class has to offer.
If no healer, i can actually use my mezz/resist song to make a difference. Things like that.
Much more fun than running in a 2/3 healer and 3 savage group.

We'll get ganked once we meet a full guild group (or any full group really), but as i say, much more fun.

point is game lost the fun for some / most of us. at least thats the core of the thread for me. addiction >> fun :(

yeh assist gets very boring if you are not ma at least sometimes.

in the beginning its fun to get in sidepositionals etc and you can concentrate on that while assisting, but after a while that is routine too and nothing special any more.

when i am "assist bitch" i sometimes assist manually (i.e. following my ma and choosing same targets as he does etc). if its a small scale fight, this works well too and is more fun imo.

assist should be removed yeh :/

well mages need help, but imo not that way, assist should be removed totally
and the debuffs can be easily spotted anyway so manual assisting would be possible there.

ya maybe good way to remove the assist macro, but good players will still have no prob to assist but atleast a BIT more skill neded :)

a good player shouldnt have to rely on another to pick his targets

take out /stick ( on enemies at least)

take out /face

take out /assist

get some skillz

I totally agree on most people here. I see it as a hype that's going on now (been on prydwen for some time and it shows...). It will eventually turn the rvr zones into empty zones and only the high RR and good guild groups will come to rvr. All the rest will either stay home or come with zerg to take keep for DF.

As someone who has been MA, used it and played support in one I must say it's quite effective way of playing and for a tank it can be either dull or a challenge (picking classes right, getting hits in and even some positionals).

I very rarely use it personally, as alot of the time I just don't trust other people to pick the right targets first, I don't mind people using me as MA, but unless its someone I know to have good enough experiance at picking the right enemy targets then i'd rather choose my own.

Sadly though it is rather effective at what it does, its just a shame it has to be relied upon so much now.

Though I don't care much for large scale fights anyway, solo or small non-full groups are more challenging and exciting in my opinion. At least then you know you personally made a differance.

Thanks Eky, and yes I do only play my SB in RvR.....

I only use my savage for farming and bot lvling purposes.

I agree with that. Not because it's effective, but because it's boring. :)
