After reading Mobious' Fired from Work thread I thought I'd recount a little story of an episode that happened in our local Asda over Christmas. All this was seen on CCTV after the event.
A man walked into the store and strolled around for a bit. Then he picked up a big telly and took it to the Customer Service desk.
Man : "Hi, I bought this TV yesterday and was just wondering if I could exchange it for a larger one."
CS : "You can, but you'd have to pay the difference between the two"
Man : "Ok, I'll just keep this one then"
The man walks out the door with the TV and the alarm goes off. He goes back to the customer service desk.
Man : "That happened when I took it home yesterday as well."
CS : "Don't worry, they probably just didn't remove the security tag properly"
The customer service person then removes the tag/demagnatises it and the man walks out the store with the TV.
I'd say you need some set of balls to do something like
