Get a half pint of Lime cordial (no water, just the syrupy cordial), and add a double Baileys to it. Mix it with a straw or whatever, and then drink it. Dont just get a baileys and put a small amount of lime in it, do it exactly as I described.

Sod that, been there, done that. Except try it with a double baileys and double lime liquor. It's called a cement mixer and there is a reason why.

As part of a decathalon of events to see who got the best room in student house next year (which I won btw ) we had a drinking challenge using shots and the like. This one, about 15th on the way through was one of the larger 'dare' ones on the menu.

As we bought it, the barman even laughed as he turned away but we sat down with the drink. We'd seen some curdling from previous shots anyway so thought sod it, went to neck it but only a small trickle of liquid went down my throat. The rest was a congealed mess which almost made us gag. It's got the consistancy of a yogurt...half gone off.

Still, at least it was better then the absynth and sambuca doubles I managed to win the comp with

I dont think Absinthe is as strong as people say. I drank a bottle in one night and was no more pissed than I would of been had I drank a bottle of Vodka. I cant handle Vodka though. Aint it strange that a bottle of Vodka and im a mess, yet I can drink a bottle of JD no problem, yet they are the same %.

Totally depends on the % of the Absinthe, stuff from Italy is low 90% etc =< Most in the UK atm is like 45-55 =< (Slightly stronger than UK Sambuca)

Hmm.. you have to remember that it is not the % that counts in Absinthe. It is how much wormwood, if any, it got in it. And that is what gives you the nice effect of absinthe.

absinthe with non or little wormwood, is for me just like bad whiskey or rum.

Have done the same thing but it all depends on the absynth. The Theurgum (sp?) inside it makes the liquid crystalise in your stomach meaning if all you drink is Absynth, you'll generally be fine and not get any more pissed then other spirits such as whiskey would get you, purely because half of what you intake, remains as crystals in your stomach.

I went through a phase of drinking just absynth for a while when I went to house parties etc. I was working 12 hour nights so in my days off, I'd sometimes end up going on late binges...it didn't last too long.

So what breaks these down? Any water based or sugary drink.

Experiments:

Setting it on fire : Don't do it. The burn away both the alcohol and the theurgum/woomword inside it. Thats the only reason some people say it tastes better, because it makes it weaker in alcohol content. You wont get any more pissed and it'll just burn as it goes down...not good

Sugar and absynth : If you don't drink fluids, it'll screw you up. You'll dehydrate and generally have a massive hangover the day after, even if you drink water before sleep...I'll get to that next.

Water and absynth : Cools down the drink and generally makes it taste nice. Better if you have an ice cube with it especially. Water breaks down the crystals in your stomach meaning the next day, you wont have stomach problems.

Best thing I found was absynth with ginger beer, ice and a slice of lemon All the sugary/water needs you'll want/need and it tastes fantastic.


If you don't break down all of the crystals in your stomach during the night, when you finally get around to drinking some water or whatever, they'll break down and you'll get pissed again. Have had this happen a couple of times when the next day you just don't know what's going on. This is why, even if you only drink water before going to bed, you can wake up with a nasty hangover because realistically, you only stopped the alcohol intake half way through your sleep and you wake up, mid hangover

Another note, I'm now 23 years old and stopped drinking absynth a couple of years ago. I now suffer from heartburn, as does a good friend of mine who I used to drink it with. His family has no history of heartburn, in mine my dad only got it shortly after turning 50. If you don't drink it with something, I still beleive it can be a big contributor to stomach acid refluxes if you're unlucky. Some may argue with it but all I can say is that I didn't have it before, but now I'm on medication because of it.

1) You make that sound like a bad thing. Have you never heard the phrase "The best way to cure a hangover is by drinking more"? Heh, I suppose the whole 'drinking milk and eating bread' before hand thing could work out quite well for that. I'll keep the whole thing in mind from when I hit the drink eventually.

2) *Agree* I've seen people become completely stupid after several drinks (people who can't handle it) - People need to realise that there is drinking, drinking alot, and being a total cock. (For a view of #3, visit Croydon in the UK xD)

3) Ooooooooooh.. I'd most probably do it with either Sambuca or Vodka (Though, Vodka has weird effects on me.. The whole, emotionally unstable bit )

That's how I have always done it - and can't say I got any bad experience from it.

when ive done absynth they melt the sugar and put it in etc also chambered it, usually need something like a double vodka lime as a chaser but its all good, had some interesting nights sleeping in bushes as a result, all in the name of fun.

edit: Oh yeah back on topic, we always have to do a baileys, lime liquor and wine pint when we go on hockey tour its foul but its a nice inititation, think ive got some pics somewhere.

And ive been drinking alot of different brands from alot of different countries ^_^ Even the locals said it was the real stuff (czech guy)

ironically last night the barman offered us a cement mixer when we asked for a double baileys. he just gave us a lemon and we swirled it in our mouths. fucking disgusting how you can feel it solidify :touch:
