as far as i know the only way to stop the little radar thingie (odin eye or whatever, i don't really care too much) works by intercepting data packets or somthing like that, so the only way GOA/Mythic could tell who was using it and who wasn't was if they physically looked at your screen for the radar.

I suppose they could stop sending the data packets but then that would make the game un-playable. luckily i don't know anyone that uses (or admits to using) a radar program or they'd swiftly be added to my 'serious' NR (Never! Res) list.

But try primal screaming therapy, i found it works quite well unless your sharing a house with people and its the middle of the night. Then you get people running in with baseball bats and all types of shit checking if your ok

I also think that a better game would make em impractical to use.

We had stuff like see invis and tracking in EQ as part of the class abilities, and I know Mythic has sniveled at length about why we dont have it here, but really we should.

the radar's easy to detect, what mythic said they did to detect it's use was placing invisible "blips" that would show up on the radar but not ingame or even on F8, that way if someone saw the "blip" of an elf running around in jmatland mountains, then that person went straight for it to go for a kill, if it was an undetectable blip which anyone not cheating would never have found, then the person who DID hare across the zone to come and kill it must be using radar etc...

then they can check this more to be certain if they're finding it through some wierd form of normal means, or whether they're just being bastards , then they can get banned and their arses burned in hell

so in other words the only way they can detect it is to have a guy at the Mythic/GOA offices downloading their own radars, making little adjustments then watching for people going after these invisible blips?

...urmm, that really doesn't sound like a good way to catch people (i know i'd be reading a magazine if i were the guy assigned to watch blips all day)

GOA dont have a dedidcated person responsible for investigating individuals accused of cheating....

How do GOA deal with cheat requests??? damned if I know, but I know they are one hell of a lazy company and wont fork out the dosh to pay someone to investigate cheaters.... if you can send them evidence of someone using standard cheats that can be show on the SS or chat log they may ban.... As for Radar users, they will continue to get away with it in defienetly...

90% of the accusations are bullshit too, I don't see how GOA struggles to catch them, but it's so easy to uncover radar users with l33t stealthing techniqiues that are documented so well. People aren't even positive how the radar works, there are so many conflicting stories.

Why ? Well, been camping Bled-road for 20 mins in Camoflage. Then I see hibs in the distance moving IN A STRAIGHT LINE towards Bled from GG. Then suddenly they stopped, turned MY WAY (even tho im using Camoflage and behind a tree), moved against me and the F****** luri 'suddenly' decides to use pbaoe to uncover me... Man, it must be some uber '6th sense' those hibs got, cuz I can't imagine how the hell they could spot me !

if mythic can put fake blips that only show up on radars, they should cover every fronteri with these blips, or have a load randomly wandering around, so that people with radar would just see a mass of blobs, and wouldn't know what to attack, methinks this would annoy the cheating idiots greatly

and btw, (you were behind a tree so this doesnt really apply to you) ever since see hidden came in there's a bug which several people have been getting where you can spot people through stealth from clip range just like if you had seehidden, this includes infils shades and shadowblades, as well as minstrels and archers.

it doesnt happen often and i dont know any way to recreate it at will, but it's happened at least 10 times since see hidden came in, in the battlegrounds and in full rvr against lvl 50 infils etc.... including alpha too i may add (the only minst i've seen like this), you just see their stealthed form from clip range, a few seconds later it will dissapear (ususally about 5-6 seconds) then they go fully stealthed like they should have been, it's long enough however, for me to have actually nuked them out of stealth before, once it was a lvl 50 infil with 50 stealth, and i actually had the target out of range message (ie i was trying to nuke him from further than DD range which is 1500 for me), run closer, re-nuke again and then hit him dropping his stealth

and it stands to reason that if, for a brief amount of time you get the data sent to you so that you can see their stealthed form (since see hidden came i imagine they changed the code to have all players "allowed" to recieve the info on stealthed enemies, then had it blocked by a "see hidden" check, if this check glitches for a few seconds then you may get this i guess, only thing i can think of) then the radar would also be able to sniff their position for that breif amount of time, i'm afraid there's nothing you can do about it unless they bother fixing it (not likely), but there you go.

now as a lvl 41 eldritch, i dont ever recall spotting alpha through stealth at more than twice bolt range before, but it happened in the gorge a few days ago, was helping out some grey champ who'd gotten aggro, i'm about to continue onto ailine when i see a wraith like mob stood JUST in the middle of the road, i think "this is funny, we dont have mobs looking like that here", click on him, gives a red con highlander, name pops up as alpha. so i'm a bit stressed now as you are , start running, mention to the grey con he should get the hell out of there, then get mezzed and killed (as you'd expect ).

funny thing about it was this: bromix was with him, i spotted him coming into clip range just after i spotted and conned alpha, but bromix stealthed asap, and i couldnt see him at all note, all this is taking place at basically clip range.

as i said though, if you were behind a tree, they're really need either a: a love of checking THAT tree (does happen sometimes), or b: that bug combined with radar (a little more probable).

but radar alone wouldnt have made it possible for them to get you through stealth like that.

unless of course, the bug cropped up at the time.

if i see someone through stealth at max DD range when they're lvl 50 with 50 stealth then i'd expect them to think i was cheating if i nuke them at that range, through stealth, but this bug allows you to do EXACTLY that, like i say, you can't seem to make it happen at will, but it DOES happen, and often enough to make being a stealther rather irritating i'd think.

Camo doesnt work 100% of the time, this has been proven time and again

Might have been an archer = true sight and can see everyone

it's the tree which changes this from an "you got unlucky with a TS archer" to the radar lamerz thingy in the title.

erm the tree would hide you from someone coming at you from one direction - if they came from the sides/behind then the tree wouldnt be a factor.

quite true of course, i just took it that when he said he was "behind" the tree, he actually meant that the tree was between him and them.

of course if you just run up from behind then the tree's not a factor , and he should really be more careful than to let people do that anyway
