ok so i respecced when NF came from S/S to pole.
I had gotten my hands on this really sweet pole thrust weapon.
So i respecced to 34thrust and 50 pole (gotta love 50pole)
what will happen now if i respecc to 50slash and rest pole? wont i be able to use the thrust pole weapon or will it make less dmg or what? i can find anywhere info on this.

Also what would be a good specc for a pole arms? Isnt 42 shield for slam good so i can get off a backstyle or sidestile or should i skip shield and go for dmg output instead?

*The higher your spec in pole, the higher the maximum cap on damage will be, even above 50.
*The higher your spec in a damage type (slash, thrust, crush), the higher the minimum cap, and therefore variance on damage. This is only true up to 51 effective spec (ie including + from items and realm rank).
*If you spec 50 pole 50 slash and use a thrust pole, your damage will be completely gimped. You need base damage spec up to 51 effective levels.
*My arms is 2h, but you can apply the same spec I use: 50 pole, 42 shield, 34 slash/thrust, rest parry/xbow - gives you slam, capped effectiveness on pole and weapon type, and ofc ability to use S+S as well.

If you go 50 slash / 50 pole then the minimum damage you get from the thrust pole weapon will be greatly reduced - so although you can still use it, your average damage will be very low with it.

As for a pole spec, depends how you want to play. The cookie cutter options are 50 pole / 50 damage spec (slash, thrust or crush) and 50 pole/42 shield/39 damage spec...but there are a variety of other specs people play, such as going for high parry rather than shield. As long as you have pole at 50 and your damage spec+items+rr adds up to atleast 51 (e.g. 39 + 11+ 3) then you won't go far wrong damage wise. Just depends on what role you want to play in groups, whether you solo alot etc.

1 thing to remember on the hybrid 50/42/39 spec is that the lower the damage spec the lower your 1h ws will be. This affects the chance for slam to bypass enemy defences (block/parry/evade) - so until you get to a decent rr (giving you the benefit of skill bonuses) taking the damage spec below 39 isn't necessarily a good idea if you are going to rely on slam alot.
