isn't it worth dropping shield to 7 or how high engage is ?

and then getting something like this:

50 2h
42 parry
39 weapon
7 or so shield

who need shield when u'r faceing some1 1 on 1 anyway ? then I would go for better defence tbh :p

I just pecced out of hybrid type (2h with slam) for soloing 2h, dmg type, parry and 7 shield i find it much better cos 50%+ of the fights are against assasins/archers the rest u just get nuked to death in a couple of seconds:mad:
Also spec crush imo for the stun chain

Depends what RR you are. You may want to try 50 2H, 42 shield, 50 or 51 composite slash(rr+items+weaponspec) and the rest parry. At very low rr this is the aforementioned 50/42/39/6. But at high rr it isnt worth speccing just for Backslash as if you're in position to do that, you might aswell do Doubler + Sun and Moon for much more damage.

i.e. At RR6ish 50/42/34/20 gives you an extra 14 points in Parry.

I would think if pve :50 2-h, 42 shield, 39 slash and 6 parry
rvr : 50 2-h, 14 shield, 39 slash and 40 parry
or 50 2-h, 23 shield, 34 slash and 40 parry

Wouldn't do that for soloing these days, it's pretty crap for that. It's still a great spec in groups, but when solo most enemies you meet will just purge the slam and when fighting 2H you have no defence. For solo, I'd say decent parry is essential these days.

Im sure theres already a thread about this fairly recently.

But anyway, as already mentioned by some, theres 2 points here :

1) Slam is no good solo

2) 2H is no good solo

So really, you need to rethink your spec completely, I admit im perhaps being a bit harsh on 2H, but really for solo its far worse then pole. The strengths in 2H are in its positionals only, the reactionary styles are pathetic to say the least. If your solo, your going to be relying upon your reactionary and anytime styles only. In group siturations when you *might* get a chance to use positionals then its ok, but for solo there really is nothing better then pole.

As for shield, again, worthless for solo, Slam is ok but its far to easy to negate and far to costly to attempt.
Blocking? pointless, if you have your shield out, that means your not doing any damage, if you have your pole/2H out then you have 0 active defense.

If you spec parry, you have heavy defense and damage and your parry rate is not halved by DW users unlike blocking, and when your solo, trust me, its DW users your fighting 9 times out of 10.

Having said that, the 50 slash/crush 50 shield 28 parry s/s spec would probably be very amusing for shear amount of defense. But it would take awhile to kill anything, spellcrafting a template for it though would be alot easier.

Crossbow damage is actually quite reasonable, however it is heavily restricted by the very poor range.

Personally I put every point I cannot fit into parry straight into crossbow, its more useful then shield in my opinion. (if your RR5+ at least).

Would be very funny if the /title menu could tell me how many crossbow kills i've had, I usually get a few each night :D

My crossbow damage tends to vary between 100-300 depending on enemy class/armour. Thats with about 17 effective crossbow.
