the GOA setup for WAR is massively different from what it was in DAoC

i believe in a post long long ago it was mentioned the DAoC english team had about 5 people working the WAR team is going to have hundreds o_O also its not based in France as with DAoc but in Ireland so cant be all bad!

It's like the ELITE force of GoA being sent to Ireland now, trained by the 5 initial gimpstars and since they're in Ireland and the air there is better than in France and Guinness is good for everybody it has to be massively different.

I can see it at GoA's web site and the perfect translations.

I guess time will tell. All i know is with a Web Design course i did 6 years ago in HTML and notepad coding. I reckon i could come up with something better. :D

Look at the difference between the website from Mythic and GOA, the same as what happened with DAOC.

The difference in time zone isnt a big point, i started my DAOC on US and i ended it there, and there were allways enough players online. And DAOC was allways a small community, Warhammer will be much bigger.

Re time difference and population.

I came back for a while and played on the DAOC classic US server.

No ping or population problems, I will certainly be voting with my feet, if GOA cannot provide an equal service to Mythic or start there old tricks of patching during our playtime rather that out of hours. Then I will vote with my money and pay Mythic.

Once the word goes out across the servers that Europe players are on server X then
the number increase. The ball is in GOA's court.

It is still very early days. If after a few months things are bad then I'll consider moving to the US - pretty unlikely though, largely for the population reasons mentioned above. I can't see WAR being a game you can get much out of solo.

Why a few months???
If it works flawlessy in the US and hardly at all here why wait?

I will be sticking with the EU version. It is far too early yet to start condemning GOA in WAR because of some earlier problems in DAOC.

I have to admit they haven't got off to the greatest of starts though, and it is worryiing.

The lack of information about what is happening and when does not show the greatest of care for customers and worse, potential customers, and I hope this improves. At the moment we get far more information from fan sites like Freddys than we find on war-europe but it may improve.

Ordered my EU CE edition months ago, so I'll go with EU, together with most of my online friends, which is my main reason.

Although I'm getting quite worried about my decision now, because of my experiences I've had so far:

I'm playing War beta since almost 1 year now and I've also been in Daoc EU closed beta 6 years ago.
All I can say since the NDA's still up ... not many changes on the part of GOA after 6 years when it comes to promises and reaction times.
You're free to interpret that. ;)

Careful now, your openly commenting on the beta and no beta participants can respond too what you have posted to either confirm, deny or discuss your claims without also breaching the NDA.

Thats a bit naughty :twak:

Didn't want so sound rude, it would be unfair to finally judge GOAs support & performance now, we'll have to wait till War goes live, the forthcoming server cluster & new location should be a good base compared to old Daoc times.

Your not being rude, your (probably unintentionally) borderline to breaking the NDA and tempting others to do the same :)

I'm going to stick with GOA as I've never had any problems with them in the time I played DAoC. Sure the patches were 3 months or so behind, but I dealt with that as it never spolied my experience of the game.

However I just hope that Mythic don't release an expansion for WAR that killed off DAoC like ToA and New Frontiers.

ToA really destroyed DAoC in a matter of a week or 2. Missed old frontiers when they changed it, nothing like the fun at emain between AMG and MMG was great fun every day. Mark Jacobs said on VN boards that he would quit if they made another ToA. So i doubt they will do another.
