There seems to a regularity, I've noticed, that teachers have a habit of setting a child a target grade (say a C grade) and just teaching them to that point than stopping.
It's almost as if the teacher doesn't want to motivate the kid further, and this in turn, causes the kid to adopt a mentality of not wanting to work harder.
I spoke to some people from high schools and I couldn't believe how little motivation and so on the teachers give. They teach them to a C-grade in many cases, then stop.
Surely, more motivation = better desire to get better grades = less people leaving school with inadequate grades.
Parents are ofcourse to blame, as they seem to have less and less interaction with their children.
Am I being too expectant here? Should we just work a children to their potential or should extend them over and beyond that potential?
Discuss!
