well.. its very interesting reading about all peoples oppinions.. especially those who say that rangers are useless even tho they havent ever tried one theirself or actually know anything..

well cant blame ya, i think its the result of some archers whining of everything all the time which doesnt make things easier for anyone getting groups as everyone think that we just plain sucks.

Only enemy char that gave me a concvincingly hard time 1 vs 1 Buffed with Tdaer was Alpha .. and thats only casue i never got an arrow off on him !

Ranger ARE good Melee and bow =. Some people just don't know how to play them .. or spec totally wrong !


Im Crafting with my ranger atm . .sorting out cash for his final SC ... when he's out.. All hell's gonna break loose.

As for UBER rangers ... errm What class held the TOP RA spot on Excal for many months ? A ranger .. heh !

Ranger are NOT:

Front line RVR
Tanks
Useless

Rangers ARE:
UBER Damage
support Tank
Versitile with Dmg types.
Good in melee.

If u wanna run in , hit things and expect not to die .. dont play a ranger .. Rangers are sneaky , skillful, choose strategic targets ( healers , casters ), and really have to do some fingerwork switching arrows and bows for different dmg types / enemies.

No better feeling than double-critshotting a mage and hitting for 1036 damage :]

You are spies that die to a single infil with no chanse of survival unless your equipment > hes =)
Know you was never a tank, but thats is the role in groups.
You give good damage.

And, if i see ya, ill invite ya no matter, then you accept or decline if ya want to =)

Ahh, the good old days when men were real men, women were real women, and rangers could get a crit on casters ;)

Bring back the old solo-sniper days :)

Would just like to comment on those things.

Protect does absolutely NOTHING in rvr(no, i dont mean its useless, i mean it doesnt do anything).

Evade III is the third best in the game(shared with other classes), you call that poor? Its only poor compared to an assassin or savage, but with dodger and buffs its good enough imho.

360 evade only makes a difference if you have multiple opponents on you, which doesnt happen all that much, while i agree that its a big advantage to have, it doesnt really make that much of a difference.

No triple weild? so? Ever heard of a 30 minute timer? And besides rangers get a perma Damage add which of course does alot less damage than TW, but its permanent(except for rebuffing of course) compared to being on a 30 min timer.

Cant spec shield? Uhm, what difference would it make? its not like theres a single BM out there that has used their shields more than once in rvr(except for slam/cd hybrids, which are very rare).

And the conclusion vs blademaster is.... Blademasters get parry, more hp and advanced evade, and rangers get to choose any damage type, has 2000 range and not that much worse melee(if you include damage add).

While i agree a 50 stealth, 50 bow, rest PF ranger has been nerfed into the ground, that doesnt mean that rangers suck, its all about specing :p

well im definitely gonna go with 27 bow, 50 pierce, 46 PF with Grandad if i can get him his last 9 levs :p rest in CD or sth

My Ranger was my second char after druid. She is still only 38. I got bored of solo. But I'd still like to get her to 50, so i've been rolling a buff-bot. So many people use em, Mythic seem to be encouraging their use now that you can run 2 windowed copies of DAoC, and if it makes lvl'ing easier.....

I respec'ed the Ranger back when we got the full respec. Have no idea what original spec was.
This is her final spec:

Stealth: 35
CD: 30
Pierce: 44
Recurve: 36
PF: 21

Oh and the BB will be 50 Nurture.

with buffs Rangers destroy non buffed assasins that miss PA....
with buffs Rangers Shoot a lot harder and hit more.
with buffs Rangers will beat buffed assasins that miss PA (if ranger has Purge and IP up)
With buffs a ranger can beat a buffed assasin that lands PA (unless the assasin is good)

Buffs are pretty much essential now though for a ranger. My view has changed... its gay for assasins etc to use them but its ok for us rangers to use them (only us rangers though)

I would say now that Celt ranger > Luri Ranger > elf ranger.

Just for the 100+ extra HP.

That's 72hp at level 50 if both put 10 into CON.

wow I made people write 3 pages of text :D

anyhow made a keen hero now >)

its fun so far (PvE :p) bit expencive but I think a ranger with all the arrows he has to buy would be just at expencive to level :)

A word to the wise...

As one of Hibernia's more experienced rangers, I'd like to assure you all that old Rud is -far- from useless when it comes to patrolling our frontiers!

I can't imagine having more fun RvRing with any other class. Go on, roll one up! Join the Starbrow clan.
