Are Migrant workers responsible for the slump in UK markets and consumer spending?

Just thinking about it, and this is no way racist.

But surely all those Poles etc that come over here to work are sending more money back home then they are spennding here?

For example, a UK born and bred person will probabaly spend 50% of his wage on luxeries/pubs etc(a rough guess, maybe more, may be less)

But a migrant worker probabaly will spend the minimum wage over here to survive, whilst ending the rest home. Lets say 20% of your income to survive, 80% going to another country.

Anyway, your thoughts please.

As long as they work n pay taxes and contribute to the social system of the economy (unemployment compensations, sanitary contributions n pensions) I think they are key to the euro countries over the last decade, where the decaying and old population might have become a problem.

BUT.... and this is a big BUT, IMHO there are side effects of this not directly implied with economic factors. It might sound like the same old, but migrants bring ways of life and native habits that might clash (and in fact DO clash) with a western country way of life (which despise the usual local differences throu the different countries, its pretty much standard).

Why i think Polish migrants dont suppose a problem but an asset instead (and a big one)?? Because they are like any other euro citizen, they have similar views, similar lifestyles, you cross pathes in the street with many of them everyday w/o even noticing, and they WORK and pay TAXES exactly like any1 else. Sure they get employed in waht we might consider lesser jobs (garbage collection, streets cleaning services, gardening, construction, etc...) but at the end of the day, they have lived exactly like you and me.

Another different matter is the inmigration which contribute to the economy in the form of taxes and contributions, but keep their habits or lifestyles instead trying to adapt to their new country ones. But that would lead us to the unavoidable debate of muslims, which PLS PLS, dont get met wrong, i dont want to take part with in this thread

It was just an observation that I made.

I think Poles are hardworking people who know how to graft, and yes, they do pay thier way. But a lot of cash is leaving the country when we need people to spend it here.

Look at it this way then. Back in't day, when France and Britain were always fighting, the English didnt want to rich toffs to buy furnature from the French/Dutch etc. So they trained a load of carpeters up to make decent quality furnature, so that the pesky french didnt get the money to go to war with us.

Its kind of the same. Im not saying Poland will start a war with anyone, but my point was its probabaly better to keep money in this country before sending buckets of it elsewhere.

no one does. no one is forcing a migrant worker to do anything either. he makes a choice to send it somewhere else. you make a choice to frittle it away on none renewable entertainment. you could just as easily save up that 80% like he is effectively doing.
