No. 35 stealth is the typical stealth spec for the up-and-coming fotm because 35 stealth +11sc +rr5 = 50 stealth, and with those buggering stealthzergs that's handy.

Bow spec depends on what archer you're talking about. Scouts should have 45 Longbow, whereas Hunters and Rangers usually spec lower.

whats the difference in dmg between 45bow & 50bow? large? also is penetrating arrow 3 good?

i've never understood why archers need high stealth tho. surely they stay away from running zones & snipe from zonewalls. do assassins haunt these spots too looking for archers?

Clearly you have never played an Archer. Or a stealther. Or possibly even any level50 character. You will get high stealth, or everybody is going to find you, gouge out your eyes and then vigourously penetrate you. Yes, they will skull fuck you boy, and you'll lament, why, why oh why didn't I spec stealth on a stealther?! WHY?!

But don't worry, it's cool, we've caught this early. We can fix it.

The difference between 45 and 50 Longbow is small, and in my opinion, not worth it, though there are a decent number of those who would consider themselves 'snipers' who go for 50 bow. You'll find that Penetrating Arrow only comes in handy leeching hib groups, so PA2 will do you fine.

Now, no you cannot stay at zonewalls. Let me explain. An assasin can see us pretty damn far away with no decent stealth. You are also going to have to go through milegates and other such busy areas and they'll be waiting for you. Oh, yes. They're always waiting. And I don't know about you, but I would need pretty bitching range to hit anything from the zonewall.

I don't care about Hunters! They are the red-headed step child of the archers!

You can go as low as 35 base bow if you really wanted to. I have 35 base bow and I can critshot for over 1k with a 5.6spd, and 4-figure damage is niiiice. Really serious snipers (45-50 base bow) can use a 5.8spd and hit well over 1.1k, even over 1.2k I hear in some cases, but they pay a price for that. So the bottom line... you don't need 50 bow, it's do you want it anyway?

i recently respeced to 45bow, after playing around with 40 in it for like 2years. but now i thought its time for a change, and the sureshot ability at lvl45 sure is nice!
as said above, 50stealth is a must more or less, u'll be spoted by none stealthers rather easy if u ain't got it, and assassins will laughspam u from milesaway if u got crap stealth :eek7:

current spec as ranger is: 45bow 44pierce 26CD 33stealth 9path

if ur talkin bout a ranger, wich u havne't said yet whats it gonna be :p , then that or close to taht is the most used spec atm i think, with a bit more of stealth instead of CD i guess.

anyway, hf with ur archer, will prolly be frustrating the first few months, but u'll prolly get the hang of the zerg :m00:

It all depends on the type of scout you want to be. I agree with Lox in that i wouldnt go below 50ish stealth otherwise you stand out like a neon light in a dark room.

Then again if you are more of a melee oriented scout being seen from distance is part of the fun, you want the dumb assasins to try and farm you.

I respeced to 35 to 30stealth, haven't noticed any difference in assasins finding me, it still happens the same, at least can hide ok vs archers and non stealthers.

I thought if a mincer can surive with that low stealth, why can't I :)

I aint telling you my spec!!

OK, seriously, I have 50 bow and I do see differences from when I had it at 40. The extra damage might not be that much, however you do get less missed shots. My Weapon Skill is a round 2000 and I really like it.

My base stealth is 35. For a small period I had it at 50 which completely gimped my melee skill, however it was great passing next to infies and sbs without them knowing that you're there.

My current spec is: 50 bow, 44 pierce, 35 stealth, 9 path, 8 CD. CD might seem low, but I do land quite a lot of hits with the off-hand so I'm ok. 9 path is just for the speed burst. I wouldn't go higher on this, specificaly now with my winged helm leveled where I actually get that speed that I need to go after someone.

I use two bows, fools bow for the machine gun fire and it's great proc that finally works (also great on keep takes as you can do 943 dmg every 3 secs on a door) and the duskood bow of the whispering wind with a 5.6 speed and thrust resist debuff.

Hope the above help you a bit. As I say, if you want to play melee, make an ns, don't gimp a ranger !
