To be honest, since the inturnet highway was invented, there have been really few innovative and groundbreaking things happening.

I mean, it's basicly still "type address and go clicky". All the same really which you use.

Don't know how, or when, but some sort of a "breakthrough" would be nice.

Have to check it out, speed is always an issue, but i doubt it's that much faster.

no thanks, i hate the look on itunes and this is basically the same look. I'll be keeping my firefox. When they get new theme I may give it ago, just can't stand that look.

We are using it at work. A hell of a lot quicker than firefoz or IE.

I like firefox aswell. Never had any problems with it at all.

what's not to like? It's faster than mozilla, lighter than mozilla, and it actually listens to the settings you set up, like "Only open links in new tabs" and it doesn't, unlike mozilla that still opens shit in new windows whenever it feels like it etc

It had tabs before mozilla, it has mouse gestures from when the general mouse only had two buttons, so you could easily navigate pages.
I open google by pressing control-1, thru the speed dial.
It's got a nice panel on the left side that flips out a 5cm area to see bookmarks, and whatnot....
rightclick a piece of text on a webpage, and "save as note" stores that text as a note, accessible thru the forementioned panel...

I follow you on that. Never had I have less problems with my browser since moving to Opera. And I really do like the feel and look of it aswell.

I use IE as im lazy and know how it works. cba to learn some new thing. Gave firefox a go once, installed all these codecs then a few weeks later it lost everything.

Speed:
Opera quicker to load and run java scripts, Firefox is quicker a browsing (which is kind of the point of a web browser no?). It is not "faster", it is only faster in some aspects

User Interface:
Opera interface is absolutely horrible imo, there is so much crap crammed into the screen anyone would think it was spawned as a side project by Microsoft. It also takes a long time to configure it in comparison to firefox. If you want loads of features out of the box you choose Opera. If all you want is a web browser where you pick only what you want (i fall into this category) you choose firefox, there is no need to tweak its great and clean right out of a install.

Downloading:
They are pretty much the same i didn tlike the Opera open a download tab i prefered the Firefox seperate window method but the UI in opera can be edited to do the same. Both have resume, both are pretty much identical otherwise.

Extendability:
They are the same, Opera comes with more toys packed into it by defalt firefox you simply download what you want and has a larger collection.

Safety:
Bugs in firefox are fixed quicker due to nature of open source, but both are pretty reliable in that respect.

Compatibility:
About the same, but Firefox is more universally implemented, be it because it is popular or because it is open source.

Customisation:
Firefox wins, you can alter the code.. how much more customisable can it get

About the clutter... I've got no idea what you're talking about. Firefox was much more cluttered last time I installed it than Opera.
About the speed... I can't comment on the loading speed... can't remember how that felt on Moz.
Downloading... You're right I guess. That popping up downloading window is annoying how it's set up from scratch, but it's a very simple thing to change. My download window only shows up in the side-bar if I select it.
Extendability.... Firefox has more tools, but the only tool I kinda miss opposed to what opera has, is bugmenot, and I've got that solved by a bmn searchcommand in the address bar. Takes a slight effort more, but the rest of opera's advantages weigh up to that and more imo.
Also, you don't need to search for, and find all the tools, on various websites and shit.
Safety... There are less opera bugs than firefox bugs. Perhaps this is somewhat the disadvantage of open source. Too many cooks spoil the broth etc.
Compatibility... Yeah, there's an issue there, however it seems that this is being improved more and more. I hardly ever encounter a website that doesn't properly function on Opera anymore.
Customisation... Open source editing is all nice and all, but how many people actually are able to program? The customizability of Opera is much more user-friendly. My parents would be able to customize opera. I can't see them fiddling with the Moz. code...

Seems like it is getting a rough start, already a lot of exploits been found and reportet.

Should get fixed I guess, since it is still a beta - but as always with a "new" browser they promise too much...
