I'm going to get apple airport express and run speakers in my bathroom ceiling

Has anyone got it, do I need powered speakers or does the express have an amplifier built in?

Cheers

without knowing anything I would say it doesn't have a built in amp. you'll need one, or powered speakers.

As TdC states, they are not amplified.

remember that if you get monitor speakers that actually *are* monitors, they may be made for near field listening and won't sound super hot if you're sacked out on the couch and they're a couple yards away from you.

What's wrong with them. They're for the bathroom, is there a better way?

I was going to power them from the loft above, as I don't have plug sockets in the bathroom

ah, like so. I was going to say "ceiling speakers are for the "music" one hears in lifts" but if you're going to have a listen while chillaxing in your Jacuzzi in your bathroom, that's perfectly acceptable. Ofc, if, like a real man, you had your jacuzzi in your living room I would advocate proper speakers, but in this case it's fine :)
