Anyone using GeForce 7900GS graphics card?

Sounds possible it was an inadequate power supply.

I have had far fewer problems since I bought a decent power supply, and also added a UPS to smooth the power (as a spike had previously killed an old PC).

Hmm yeah thats worth checking, the newer GForce cards do suck a bit of power.

Other than that its a mystery, you are getting visible artifacts which still points at video card drivers with a big red flash arrow.
