Yoyo amigos.

Just a quick question really. I've noticed since i've been on my uber-bulk-up-get-muscley-for-Outlander quest that i'm getting a few problems. So, has anyone ever seen a physio before, or know what i need to do in going about it?. Do i need to go through my GP or just find a local physio?. Also any idea how long it'd take on the NHS?, as i have zero cash to spare atm.

Thanks! :D

my wife got refered to a physio through her GP, it really depends on whether its something that has to be done, then you will get treatment on the NHS. if its just the fact you need to rest then thats what they will tell you.

I had a physio for my hand for a while last year on the NHS, broke bone across the top clean in half shattered a knuckle in a few places and dislocated a couple fingers :p hand is held together with bits of metal now so it was in cast for ages and couldnt move it when it came out.. tbh the physio from the NHS I saw was utter bollocks.. gave me print outs from the internet with ''hand exercises'' that I could have myself.

When I was 16 I was bounced off a trampoline about 12 ft in the air and landed on my knee, needless to say it was busted. The next day my knee swelled up to about 3x its size and I couldn't walk for a week, if I tried to put weight on it, it just collapsed from under me.

Eventually I could limp on it and I just kept doing it painfully for about 4 months, it was getting better very slowly. I eventually took the initiative to go to the doctor who then refered me to the hospital who then refered me to the physio. My leg is still crap for running though.

Basically (and i'm not sure how long it's been this way for, was less noticeable before bulking) one shoulder sits about an inch or so more above the other. I don't know if it's just down to irregular traps, posture or whatever.

Can send a front/back view if it helps :)

Ok well if you don't have any discomfort, then it is probably just youre form on the shoulder excercises. Try making sure you always use the same weight on your right and left and even then you cant always ensure equal size. For e.g. i've been benching 230 and using same weight on both arms for pec flys and one is more fully developed then the other. Just happens some times. :fluffle: Might as well send a pic see if can spot anything.

Interesting fact: there was a myth that Richard III was hunchbacked. He wasn't; he was just so overdeveloped in one side from all his sword trainig that one shoulder was significantly bigger than the other, which is where the hunchback myth came from.

You'll almost certainly have had one side bigger than the other - usually the right side, for right-handed people - all along, and only just be noticing it now because you're A: developing it more, and B: paying more attention to your musculature anyway. What Azaurus says is basically right- just train the smaller side up until both are balanced.

I had a similar problem that was picked up after repeated dislocations. Apparently if the shoulder joint isn't in its "normal" position it will be weakened.
Physio's can fix this sort of thing (cos they did with me!) but whether your GP will think its worth a referal or not I dunno. :)

I was thinking about doing that but then decided against it.

Think about it. If i've got one trap bigger than the other, it seems logical to just up the shrugs i do on the smaller/weaker side. Although when you start isolating one group like that, you start messing about with synergist muscles and stabilisers.

Although i have switched all my excercises bar a few to barbell now so form will be the same on both sides.

Thanks for the replies btw guys :)

go to a doctor, see what htey say, if you are unhappy about it, go see a physio, and talk to a proper weights coach, get them to spot your form etc.

Dont do more reps or anything on one side, just stick to a barbell and it should even out alot more.
