Just booked a 3-day course next week (cram-stylee) at the end of which I'll be taking both Foundation and Practictioner exams.

£1900 quid, including accomodation in Cambridge, which ain't too bad IMO.

Anyone got any experience of this? Got your certs? Any advice?

Are you struggling to find proper work or something?

Going to the darkside! <shakes head sadly>

Nah. I'm just bored of the techie slug and can't drum up any enthusiasm for it at all. That's reflected in the fact that I've not worked since October but I've not bothered to do my CV yet - the idea of designing or supporting an infastructure so some granny can check her bank statements or gas bill just doesn't inspire me. Been there and done that.

PM skills are transferable, the job should be more varied and less routine and in the end pays more.

TBFH, I don't fancy IT as a profession any more *at all* but it pays so well... If I could find a way out of the trap... :(

I passed it last year. Seems to be quite an in demand thing at the moment. I've moved into a performance management/ app support role and am enjoying it. Course isnt too bad as long as your on the ball and do some reading in the evenings.

Pfft. Diving school in Fiji. If you're going to opt out of the rat race, do it in style.

Oh I know a bloke who did that in Thailand - he's been out there over a decade now and gets so busy he has to turn work away - I'm not sure thats completely getting out of the ratrace as he still gets stressed...

I looked into it myself, but Thailand is too saturated. Costa Rica or Honduras would be the places to go because the tax rates are tiny.

I'm a PRINCE2 practitioner. Nothing really to worry about, it's a well formatted course and it will teach you everything you need to know. I did my foundation + practitioner over 5 days; 3 days will be very demanding. Make sure you have at least 2-3 hours free time in the evenings to go over your notes and do some of the test papers.

If you're a visual learner (like myself) I would suggest creating a flow diagram of each of the stages (Startup, IP, CS, SB & CP) so you can visualise the entire process. Other than that enjoy the course.

Just got the results. Spanked 'em both.

Just to find a turd in the silver lining - that's a bit of a worry IMO. They're probably a bit easy if I can spaff them both in 3 days and do practitioner with a mild hangover.

Ho-hum. No excuse not to do the CV now :(

Edit: Flow diagram was good advice Garaen - it formed the basis of the course from day 1, trainer put it up on 3 big boards in front of us with the stage breakdowns below.
