anyone know the realm point formula?

Hypothetically - say I have 0 realm points and I somehow manage to kill someone who has 2million, how many points would I get? Is it a percentage of what they have? Is it based on the difference between the two? Does the number of points you have already affect the amount? If you have more do you only get 1 point? Is it linear? Does it depend on the proportion of total damage you do personally? .....

You get 1-5 RP. :p
To have 0 RP you have to be below level 20. At very low levels you are capped on the number of RP you can receive.

Is it a percentage of what they have?
Evidence suggest that it is not, their RP is probably a factor though.
Is it based on the difference between the two?
There may be some weighting for that, but it is not the significant factor.
Does the number of points you have already affect the amount?
It doesn't appear to significantly affect it.
If you have more do you only get 1 point?
No, that would penalise people that do well.
Is it linear?
Is anything in DAoC linear? :p
Does it depend on the proportion of total damage you do personally?
Yes.

The main criterion for the amount of RP you get appears to be the target's level and their number of RP. There is also some bias for your level (particularly if you are lower level) and possibly the number of RP you have. The formula is somewhat complicated, generally if you solo a level 50 you'll get 900+ RP, but sometimes you get less or more for no apparent reason (I've had 41 RP before, and also over 1000).

My scouts had 1050ish a couple times, off Foolou/Qte, but Ive never had more than the 950ish figure on Konah, wierd... But if u live through being dmgd by alot of ppl during the course of the night u pay alot less, as when u do finally die its pay day for all those ppl who've dmgd you.

Highest I ever had was sometime last week, got 1009 rps and 64 bp for soloing an orange con (im 46, he could of been anywhere from 47-50, name was something like miril). Was quite suprised as i've never got more then 700 before personally and havent heard till now of many people getting over 900+.

Was also something silly like +4 rp bonus due to keeps probably lol.

I think the amount of damage you do may come into it too if theres several people hitting same target but could be wrong, its likely to be effected in groups by the highest level in the group to the lowest like exp.

Wasn't there something about this in the friday grab bag over on daoc.catacombs from sanya a week ago or so ? (can't be bothered to go look myself, but feel free to check for yourselves heh).

I discovered Mythic's sourcecode for calculating rps. Here is a fragment:

void Hib::OnInvaderKill(void)
{
if (m_class==WARDEN)
{
m_rps = m_rps + 0;
}
else
{
m_rps = m_rps + random(1000);
}
}

If you are lvl 50 and you kill another lvl 50 you get approximately 900RPs. This increases by about 15RPs for each major realm rank they have.

Things that will make that go down are that they have been in a RvR fight recently, someone else hits them during your fight, or you are capped by your lvl.

Things that make that go up are bonuses due to the realm owning enemy keeps, your guild / alliance claiming a keep, or being in a keep defending it from invaders.

I heared a vague rumor somewhere it also depends on how many RP's you got since your last RvR death. So if you been doing very well all day and didnt die (Can anyone test this for me? I'm a bard and have close contact to the grass usually) you should be worth like 1100 RP's, while when you were just arriving in emain again after your last gankage, you'd be worth 900.

The numbers i'm guesstimating on ;)

Yours or his?

Emain RP Formula:

RP = GroupFactor * LevelFactor * ClassFactor * 1K rp * Hours * SkillFactor * BuffBotFactor

where Hours=hours spent in emain.
the ClassFactor for a scout is 5 (pre-1.50 nerf). GroupFactor is 1 for solo, can go as high as 3.
LevelFactor is 1 if level 50. slowly descends to 0 around level 20
SkillFactor is somewhere between 0.75 and 1.25.
BuffBotFactor is between 0.75 and 1.25.

Note that ClassFactor for most classes is inversely proportional with GroupFactor, while for others (e.g. healer they are directly proportional).

Conclusion: Even a skill-less moron soloing with a gimpclass can get a crapload of RP, just have to spend more time.

...

Feel free to :flame: , I know u cant resist!

EDIT: added BuffBotFactor and modified ClassFactor.

blasted soloers moaners

Soloing??

I love to hear any stealther class, or even a skald babble about soloing.

Been playing a class that's absolutely unable to solo from day one (if I run solo to Emain out of boredom, best hope for rps I have is to get jumped by a solo gorge camper scout or minstrel on the way, hope he's really solo, but strangely they seem to prefer to chain greys). The minute I step in Emain I'm just a sitting duck for any speeded group.

You guys moaning abotu how Mythic nerfed your solo ability should try and play a speedless tank about "Solo Ability" before you come rabbling at our hears.

Thing is Cuthervaen a lot of people made classes that can solo because they can solo... but now cus of see hidden they can't solo anymore :(

If you make a tank or a healer your gonna have to group, if you make a character who can stealth you *should* be able to solo. Stealth has almost no purpose except for soloing or stealth groups.

Totally agree on the see hidden thing (as I posted on soem other place about my idea what see hidden should be)

Worse thing is see hidden just negates what stealth used to be.

I thought the idea of stealth was, better stealth you have, better chance to see other stealthers and less chance to get seen, but see hidden just puts this to oblivion.

As an edit to my other post I think the stealth thing could be even streamlined to soimething like :

Making see hidden a level RA (I to V)

Chances to see another stealther and distance at where u see him depends on

(your stealth + how much levels in see hidden) minus (his stealth + how much levels in mastery of stealth)

Then it would revive the stealth war, you coudl make urself uber stealth detector or uber undetectable but at the cost of a maxed stealth and deficiency in other RAs.

IMO see hidden should be based on your own stealth points, the more you have, the better you can see, it makes sense that someone that trains in stealthing, should also be able to use the same training to spot other people that are stealthed.

aussie im not the one whining on forums and in PMs on irc about other users using buffbots, and a stealther team with buffbot is worth more than a tank with a buffbot because you can pick the targets you thoose to fight, except vs assassins.

imo See Hidden should abide by the general guidelines for everything in daoc:
a) levels
b) skill-spec
c) RA-spec
d) more levels

SH totally disregards a and b and d, has only 1 level of c.

Imagine if i gave friars a damage-resist / dodge-like RA, which would negate the level and hammerspec of the skald hitting him?

edit:
oh and aussie can we plz stop the buffbot whining now? u did it before u had a bot, fair enuf, doing it now just makes u a hypocrit.
