I've got a Samsung LE32R8 LCD tv which mostly Im quite pleased with. One thing though, when I connect a DVD player to it via an HDMI cable I get a greenish tinge to the picture. This is the same with an XBox connected, also by HDMI but a different cable, but not the same with the Virgin telly which uses a Scart, or with the old DVD player, which also used a Scart.

Any ideas at all?

What is the HDMI set to? Is it set to expect a RGB signal or component? Are there pre-set modes on the TV which affect the colour? Are the cables connected properly?

Cables are in as tight as I can push them, first thing I checked :( I cant see what the HDMI should be set to, there doesnt seem to be an option, its the thing I keep looking for on the TV.

Theres heaps of modes on the tv, but whilst they all change stuff, the green shade remains.

Im sure its something I've missed, I just wish I could find out what it is :)

The only time I have had a green tinge on my TV is when the HDMI port is set from the TV to expect a component connection from my PC. The PC only outputs RGB and the result is a green tint.

Can you link to a pdf of your TV's manual, will see if I can locate the setting for you.

Although saying that, my 360 outputs a component signal over HDMI so that may not be the issue.

Page 15 - the Tint option.

I cannot see any settings for the HDMi inputs in that manual. The only other thing I can see that may affect things is page 17. Turn all the noise reduction, dynamic contrast, edge enhancement etc off. Try the different white balance settings.

I am not sure what the "my colour settings" option does.

Have you contemplated the possibility that it might be faulty? Sounds like there's a good chance if you've reset everything, used two different devices with two different cables and you're still having problems.

Chet - thanks for that mate :)

Nath, I have yes, but Ive not reached a conclusion yet. Pressing "reset to factory defaults" last night made such a big difference, but it was late and I was tired so I gave up and went to bed :)

I'll have another look tonight I think.

Just as a ps, after buying one dvd player, and taking it back, then taking the replacement back and getting a refund, Samsung decided the TV was at fault. So then I had go buy yet another dvd player, the man came out, fixed the TV, and now all is well :)
