Just wondering if it's possible to plot3d a procedure (defined myself with proc) - or, at least, a piecewise-defined function? I can't make it work at all.

I have figured it out and it wasn't necessary in the end.

But I am now producing somewhat neat graphs such as these:

The (deliberate) combination of continuity and discontinuity always strikes me as odd.

that last one is cool Louster mate. you must have done something pretty extreme I guess :)

Yeah uh, given the conditions of "0 at x=0 for all t, 100 at 1<x<2 and 0 elsewhere for t=0", it took a while to get something which satisfied them all. (Oh and it had to be a linear combination of error functions defined in a particular way so as to satisfy the diffusion equation.)

So yeah, u(x,t) in that last one is defined as:
50*erf((x-1)/2sqrt(t)) - 50*erf((x-2)/2sqrt(t)) + 50*erf((x+1)/2sqrt(t)) - 50*erf((x+2)/2sqrt(t))

Uh yeah, and the x<0 bit wasn't relevant to the conditions I needed to satisfy, I just thought the symmetry of the resulting function looked cool.

Ahem.

it makes my brain hurt Louster :( sorry, though I do like the graphs. mostly I have no use for the extra dimension when making them, though I have a test coming up which may call for it where I will try to project scaling, users and server-load at once. I tend to keep things to two dimensions always cos I use excel which is naff :(
