i'm verry aware on how it is in the "real world" but that wasn't why i wanted to pick up juijitsu..
I can stand my man perfectly fine without any of the fancy moves, but i just wanted to do a bit of sport, and maybe learn something while doing so..
Only "falling down properly" was not really on my to do list..

I've never done much with martial arts, that said, I would imagine that a teacher of such a sport/technique isnt going to show you how to do the ubar-one-hit-punch-of-d00m on hte first night there.

The idea of teaching you how to fall down isnt so much to teach you how to fall down (although thats part of it), more to see how well you learn, that way, when it comes to teaching you how to do something a little more 'dangerous' such as a grapple or a throw, the teacher will know how well you learn etc etc, so they can gauge how well you are doing without any risks.

As I said, I've never done alot with martial arts, I did a few lessons but at the time I was there for the wrong reasons (much like you i expect), I was getting shit at school and wanted to learn how to bruce-lee the tossers through a brick wall, the first night there I was taught how to walk properly, all night, walking forwards, backwards, sidestepping, etc. Not once in the entire first night did I get to do any punching. I was let down because I wasnt ready to learn, tbh looking back at how it was I'd really be alot more interested in learning that sort of thing now - because I'm ready now to start off slow and learn the basics.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to who we recruit within the Police Force. I for one am Male, I am also straight and I am also white. Dont try and make the Police Force sound impossible to get into, anyone can do it. You just have to want to do it, it is not as easy as it seems.

I think you also need an impeccably clean criminal record - like not even a caution (even if its over 5 years). Not sure about the community support *officers* - rules may be more relaxed

Elk - can u clarify. A mate of mine wants to join the Plod, but doesn't reckon he'll get in cos he was busted for Class A possession 9 years ago (Police caution only)

I have no plans at this moment in time to come back to any games at all, mainly focusing on my career and also my wrestling, so I dont have the time to commit myself. With the physical training that comes with everything I do, it takes up alot of time.
