watching some red dwarf online and some of the videos have a caption like this -

An escape pod docks with the Dwarf and is carrying the only survivor of a ship which was attacked by a genetically-engineered corrosive lifeform. Unfortunately, the corrosive material is also on board and begins to eat away at Red Dwarf.[carrys on like this explaining the story]

is there an online source for what ever this caption is? im not really sure if there is a specific name for it.

I think what you are talking about is Closed Captioning, or at least a form of it. There are the most common ones which are used for the deaf, which put up whatis bein spoken or music pieces for the hard of hearing. I have heard of this kind of captioning, but I am not sure of it's exact name though.

when i say the videos have a caption, i mean its actually under neath the video player, not part of the video its self.

its like whats in the imdb link, only more descriptive
