My entire body sorta aches...

Went on a m8's stag do this weekend. Got completely arse-faced on Saturday nite and went for a curry (back in Bradford for it - 11 of us, starter+main course+chaps+pops - £53 quid all-in!!!!)

It was a good night - but I've had nights where I've drunk more, got up the next day, got pissed again, and then followed the same pattern every day for the next 3 months with NO rest days. (University rocked).

Now, I'm only 29 years old - but I fucking ache :(

Surely this can't be right... Any other of you old(ish) gits out there get the same way? If so - what the fuck can we do about it?

It happens when you get old. You have to suffer. That's life :)

Dont party as hard...simple really

Nah. Partying less hard is NOT an option.

Hangover days, whilst pleasant in a sort of masochistic way, are kind of counter-productive because if it's the weekend then you want to start on the beer again straight away, and if it's a weekday you need to be at work...

Excercising my lardy arse may help tbh tho.... :(

Disagree there. I used to be super-fit (about 12 years ago) and about 2 years ago I had a drive to get back to some semblance of fit.

I found out that exercise for exercise's sake sucks cock. I just can't be motivated to do it. It makes me feel bad, I don't get any "rush" out of doing it (even if I do it regularly). I ache afterwards and it bores the shit out of me.

I think I need to move to near the sea - I could go canoeing or scuba diving regularly and it'd be interesting....

Perhaps an outing in the M1A1 Abrams MBT may appease those rough feelings? The Basra-Najaf run is a good drive to demonstrate the superior handling and MPG ratio of the vehicle.

Drink more water. At least a litre a day. You feel much better.

Of course exercise for exercise is boring. That's not the only way you're going to feel better though. You don't try to get fit, you don't try to get healthier - if you do you'll be too aware of it mentally and it will become too much a mental hangup.

We've had some great weather the last week, and despite being hit with a BRUTAL cold I've been more active than normal, heading down the park 2/3 times for a couple of hours, with a small amount of football, aerobi and I've just started Kendo lessons. Literally, you only need the smallest amount to feel better - I feel infinitley better for having become a little more active.

It's twice as fun, 3 times less boring and 5 times better for you. Go kick a football around for an hour. You don't even have to RUN for the ball.

Gerroff your fat lazy arse and stop making excuses

:D

I'd go and kick a footie about or play frizbee or summat but during my "super fit" phase I managed to fuck my ankles up something rotten so any exercise that involves moving around on my previously lanky (now slightly lardy) legs is just too damn painfull..... :(

Tried it. Yup - it's cracking exercise and puts less stress on all of your limbs.....but.....its so boring... :(

Looks like I'll have to move out of my newly-purchased abode in the fair(ish) city of Nottingham and move to the seaside (preferably in northern Spain).

Your aches and pains are as a result of you being dehydrated. So what throdgrain said really. Even if you drink loads of water before you go out you will still get the hangover from hell if you have been on the lash. You just wont ache all over thats all

I've been making myself far more dehydrated for many years - but it's only the past year that beer hurts!! :)

First water helps, second don't end with a beer.
Also what helps the next day: sugarish drinks like oj (don't know why but it helps me) a good dump is nice too.

Oh and take better care in your choice of beer, some of the beers dont let it naturly age, for me the the ones that age naturly don't give me so much a headache.

I find Bitter and Real Ale rather than lager gives me much less of a headache because a lot of Lagers have chemicals and preservatives in which causes headaches as well

:) Anyone tried a "Cheeky Vimto"?

Get a long glass and put a measure of Port into it, followed by a bottle of blue WKD. Loverly!

Anyway - typical drinks nite for me involves:

3 or 4 pints of Bitter or Stout from a variety of brewers (Black Sheep/Theakstons and the like)
1 or 2 pints of Cider or Scrumpy
1 or 2 pints of Lager (prolly Stella (or "Wife Beater" as it is commonly known))
Anywhere between 1-5 "shorts"......

It's been kindof a common pattern for me and friends for about 10-12 years now and it never used to hurt.

Guess it's just me age :(

What's your fave tipple then?
