Any mid/alb groups roam? (Thid)

Yea I know the title smells like whine but it isn't, honest ;)

Hib seems to mostly group these days and do some hit n runs. Alb looks to mostly stroll out of APK and gather at a bridge and wait (ahem defend ;) ). Mid seems to slowly make their way to MB, get fought mid way there by hibs roaming or eventually make it to the bridge only to see Albs waiting for them in sometimes large numbers :p. Of course there are exceptions to this, but over the past 2 evening this is what seems to be going on (I have no idea what the soloing scene is like, if there is one).

The main question I am interested in getting answers too is:- what people enjoy most out of playing Thidranki?

Thats coz hibs are too yellow to try and take/defend the CK, its not that the other 2 realms dont roam, the BG's have a purpose of the CK defend/attack, not to roam around in an FG farming soloists

Why doesnt your FG take part with the rest of your realm and try and take CK, the majority of people in thid are just /leveled toons just there for a bit of fun, hence they move towards CK to attack or defend it......... i think you should take a look at your own strategy as apposed to picking on people who are playing the game the way it was meant to be played ........RVR, seiging, attacking, defending......

Nice reading of the post.

Ok so one person likes BG because he likes whinging at things ^^

Roaming is just as viable as keep takes/defences in thid. I'm rarely ever in a fg in thid, normally i'll run with my sylvan hero (Valirn) and another tank and a bard and we'll roam about and see what we can kill. There is just no way that we would ever try to attack the ck with 3 people....Yes, it is possible to organise keep raids but its a pain as alot of people just don't listen and it all goes down the pan.

Whats mainly pissing me right off (and this isn't really whining, just my opinion) is all the albies. Many a time now have I been having a good, balanced fight against some middies when i'm in my trio and then albs just pop out from mb with 1.5 - 2 fg's and just steamroll everyone....really...what is the point? You get virtually no rp's as theres so many of u, there is no skill involved, its just insta win...guess that might be why u do it, just to win :/

Well, that did turn into a bit of a whine, its really not meant to be, would just appreciate it if u didn't steamroll everything u see instantly, maybe let the fight finish then zerg us :D

There was a point?

I just gathered from the post that you enjoy whining about things, and to tell people they should take CK only!

Ok lets take a few steps back to the begening, yes you can roam in FG, yes you can roam in trio's but the purpose of the BG is the Central Keep, unless mythics been lieng to me all this time.

Yes i respect that a lot of people want to have there fun and run in 2's and 3's fair enough but if we respect your wishes dont you think you should respect our wishes in attacking or defending the keep ?

Until mythic make a statement saying that the CK in the BG's should not be attacked or defended and everyone should run around roaming for fights i doubt its gonna change. Your just gonna either have to jump on the train, or put up with it.

It depends a bit. On my thane I only solo, but if there happen to be a few friends on who are up for a group i'll log my shaman and run with them for a bit. I have zerged as well with a runemaster in /level armour, but it wasn't really my thing, got rather bored once I hit 24. Actually I got bored before I hit 24, but I had promised myself I'd get him to 24, which I did :).

What I like best about Thidranki is the atmosphere though. Can't beat that :).

Before clustering I would have said soloing (playing a skald), now I'd say 'soloing'. Subtle difference being that now I really enjoy roaming between zergs as a stealther (usually stand offs between mid and alb) and attacking casters and running back to the safety of our zerg, or defending our casters from alb stealthers. Reminds me of the early days of the BGs :)

I used to like running in a mini gank group (of 3) with some friends, but we had a uniform and everything so people presumed we were good... which we weren't.

Also I'd say mids have the worst groups, we do ok in stand offs, but if both other realms are just roaming with groups we tend to come off worse - I think maybe because we are very low on healing/cc classes in comparison to the other realms (though we make up for that in Bonedancers and warlocks!).

Personally I'm enjoying the current trend in thid, the atmosphere has improved so much - only rvr zone where there really does seem to be a 'team atmosphere'.

Lets take a few steps back to the first post of the thread. It asks two questions.

Do any alb or mid groups roam?
What do people enjoy in thid?

Where in that does he disrespect people who want to take the CK? He just wants to know if there is anybody else out there who isn't interested in CK taking and likes to roam, maybe looking for some even numbered fights.

I've taken place in CK takes and defences and to me it isn't fun. I prefer to fight in a small group e.g. 3 or 4 people, go out roaming and see what fair fights there are (whilst avoiding soloers/duos that don't attack my group). I don't try to dissaude people from taking the CK. I personally believe each to their own, and if people want to take CK go for it and have fun.

Did people in the old emain all go there to take DC or were most of them looking for fg on fg fights?

So with that said (and with all due respect to people that don't want to roam and prefer to take CK or solo or whatever), are there any alb/mid groups out there looking for fights away from the normal hot spots?

Ultimately the point of any game is to have fun. The EULA and CoC hopefully manage to deal with players that have their fun at the expense of others (e.g. cheaters).

that to me says that hibs run around in groups, albs and mids make there way towards there respective bridges in large numbers,

My answer a little harsh i know, it was that maybe you should immitate what the albs/mids do and attack defend the CK.

Read between the lines

He knows that he meant when he said that and what he was pointing at, or maybe i just misinterpreted it

and please, oh please, oh please tell me what the CK is there for ? The idea of it is to attack and defend it, and of course we've all already stated that its about having fun, fun for all not just a selected few.

I wrote exactly what I see happening in Thidranki, and wondered what other people found fun about being there. I might not completely understand the fun in what other people do, but am looking to see why so many still go to Thidranki and seem to have fun :D.

In truth I think the point in this post was originally jsut to have an idea of what people enjoy about Thidranki, and also that it might give a chance for like minded people to play together in a way that they enjoy i.e. possibility of making more groups by people that might enjoy grouping but don't have people to group with.

So far most points are that the atmosphere makes it fun. It is interesting to see the mix of replies ranging from Siege action to soloing and anywhere in between.

The CK is there to take certainly, but I am sure many will not enjoy attacking/defending it every time they log into Thidranki. It does however offer another option of type of RvR and does give a place for people with not much creativity something to do. I do have 4 or 5 keep takes on my BM in Thidranki as well so I do occasionally take it.

Well firstly the albs sitting at the bridge already had the CK (remember he made an obvervation based on the last two nights), so don't see how he was having a go at them for enyoying taking the CK.

In those last two nights I've seen one roaming mid group, at least three hibs groups and no alb groups. So what he is saying tallies with the reality of what I've seen. I would define roaming in this instance as keeping on the move and not being in transit between a PK and a CK, or sitting put near a bridge.

In my past experience of thid, hibs having CK kinda kills Thid a bit. It seems to increase the number of hibs there especially the animists. When hibs have the CK it's not unusual for them to outnumbers mids and albs combined. So from a personal point of view, I'm not that keen for hibs to take CK. When it happens I usually log out.

There are mobs in Thidranki also, I don't go farming them just because they are there. I take my enjoyment from running in a small group and looking for other similar sized groups to fight. I hope I do this in a way that doesn't spoil anybody elses fun.

And of course the purpose of the CK is for attacking/defending. But Thidranki isn't one big CK. For instance there is an entire continent with nothing on it. Noone ever goes there, but what's to stop roaming groups meeting up there and fighting? Nothing if they wanted to.

I love to defend the ck - I love every aspect of siege warfare from siege weapons to repairing, healing, ressing, buffing guards etc. Generally if you see a blue glow up on the walls of thid it could well be me - I like to do upsetting things like keeping blue cloth casters alive while stealthers jump them until the zerg wakes up n flattens the stealther :)

I particularly enjoy repairing whilst fighting off hibs/mids - its fun to catch people inside the ck by closing holes behind them - caught a mid last night and imagining his expression as he ran back to the wall to see no hole was priceless - he kept running to the same spot maybe thinking he had a graphics bug :)

I am a big fan of the mids and their relentless attacks - if I had to choose a realm to have CK it would be the mids (except when everyone plays bds/warlocks :p). Hibs are merely opportunistic - generally engaging those who are already fighting - I've heard of honorable hib groups but I only tend to meet the type that steamroll soloers in fg's - I know this is often related to numbers but considering mid and hib often have pretty similar numbers its striking how much more focused on the ck the mids are.

Long time before i had like 6 bg1 toons crafted to hell and i was looking for some set grp vs set grp fights but the only thing i faced was people like Kalidur who goes for [Hoi hOi lets take the Central Keep! , Amagad they are on 1st do0r! alarrmm!] xD way.Result : bored -

I run in a little 4man hib group most evenings, we don't run any more people than that else we would have to be fighting large groups of people to make the challenge fun :D. Have seen 2 mid groups running around in the past 3 evenings, last night however seemed like loads and loads of Hibs about so we might be swapping over to our mid chars and running a group. We will enjoy any challenge from other groups so give it a try :D. Our only problem atmo is our bard works till like 8pm so can't play till after that :p.

yeah he seems to pop a lot nowadays...

i am playing hib/pryd atm with bisgista and bigsistas and having a blast...
and beeing a old mid myself it makes my heart bleed each time i kill a mid ( unless he is a mid-pryd :) cause then he is prob an alb , or maybe a hib,

anyway i have to say that even with the hib numbers out there i take my hat off for the respect that MOST of the people show, yeah and i know that the main purpose of the bg is to take the CK , but for me its not , its about learning to play the classes , and since i am new in hib i have loads of stuff to learn.. and running around with the freearmor from TNN dont help : )

and for bookie ....protector of hib bridge , i salute you

After being gone from dark age for the past two years I was hoping there would be lots of roaming about. I made an Eld and ventured forth in Thidranki, just to get steamrolled by a group of 5 mids. Most people would get pissed off and go to this wonderful forum to cry out their whine, but I actually enjoyed it.

This was the first run I had in there but did it take away the fun? No. I simply did a /who Thidranki and went off to PM those inside wether they wanted to team up or not. After a few PMs I finally got ourselves a group together but as when you lack speed the group mostly tends to go 'camp' a spot as running around takes too much time.

Yesterday I met Hamro and asked him if I could join his group. They let me in and we started roaming. This is where the great feeling of Thidranki came back to me and made me decide to go Mid ( ..only have one realm to choose sadly ) as I found that there were hardly any Mids about these few days I was in Thidranki. We roamed and roamed and had a great time, atleast I did, and made quite a few fights into our benefit.

Now to get to the point :p !

Why don't Albs form a group of randoms and have some fun roaming about?

The only reason you could have is if you like to defend the CK, which some might actually like, but wouldn't it be the same if you kept the Hibs/Mids away from the bridges by roaming around with a group? You could build a somewhat 'route of d00m' where none would ever want to run by as they would risk their life going there.

Let me ask you something Kalidur. When it comes to war in this world, do they tend to 'camp' one city/country or will they try to expand their territory? I'd say the last.

And, doesn't it make people feel good when they have fights where skill is important to overcome the enemy? I can't believe I had used so much skill in my first few days in Thidranki two years ago, when there were zergs going for each other.

To sum it all up;

I vote for roaming. Group up with some members of your realm to have a laugh and try to win fights using your personal skill in this game. Let the few that rather take/defend CK do their thing and encourage more people to go stop their exping for Thidranki, or roll an alt.

I've gone Mid and made myself a Shaman, combined with a Skald mate of mine, I hope to enjoy roaming with him. May there by volunteers to join us, let me know!

Kind Regards,

Sebula Strings ( might the oldskool still remember the name ;) )
Sohtaraz Imflamme ( my Eldritch which is now gone )
Xyshina ( my Shaman )

We have a little team on mid as well, might play that as soon as Fervent kits out my new char for me :p. Could be cool to group up depending on the things to fight in Thid.

Also I remember the name sebula a NS ??? The others don't ring a bell.

Sebula the nightshade yes, and the Shadowblade, and the Druid, and the Infiltrator, etc etc. Used it for many characters in Thidranki or something similar.

The other two names are the ones I play now, after coming back to the game, but you might also remember me as the Druid which I played with 'under your command'. You, Andrew, me and another lad. :)

I've got enough money to tweak some characters out, all I need is someone to level me up as my own account hasn't got the /level command. I was using my mate's account to powerlevel my chars to 24 all the time, heh.

Kind regards,

Some Albs roam but it seems a natural thing for the holding realm to defend the ck - your analogy to the real world fails because there is only 1 strategic objective in thid - thus people holding the ck already posess it.

It can be seen from the hib zerg that held the ck when prydwen was down that this is a holder of the ck thing rather than a realm thing.

ive always enjoyed thid, tho ive not played there in a while until recently.

Went mid for a change from hib and i always enjoyed the fact you can form a half group and meet other half groups and have some crackin fun. However i have rarely seen the albs do anything except zerg (not a whinge btw) i understand that your numbers are greater.

this usually means they have more people at hand to take the ck and then can be found zerging the bridges. always used to be very difficult to get numbers up on hib side for any kind of thid ck take, so roaming was the usual.

I think more fun would be had if people tried to split up a bit more, run 3-6 man teams, crunch onto others doing the same and put an end to the relentless en-mass charge and run (back and forth) scenarios that are happening now.

anyways, /wave to all, and /rude to all the god damn stealthers that drop me in 2 shots :(

occasionaly me and a few others get a small grp together, but everytime we do its either packed with mids or it just isn't fun :/

nice to fight the zerg now and again but other than that its either picking on the duos etc (playing healer atm i try to do my best leaving soloers) and that quite simply isn't really a challenge.

had a few nice fights with u guys a few nights back where we were 5, maybe if a few people who are currently playing mains decide to return to thid we can get the old raeva, weevee, piko, admire, blokkie 5 back up (thunder), had a right laugh with that :)

Well if there will be more guild groups roaming in thid, imo there should be some kind of sticky thread on BG forums where you can plan when/where people will play so that hopefully the gank-groups will be opposing eachother, since that is what I am looking for when I'm playing thid with our group (having scraps with equal sized competetive groups).

How come I can't get a group then *sobs*. Us stealthers are victimized - persecuted - vilified - buggered (well maybe not that).

Come on - you want an 'uber' stealther in your group or wot? None better.
