lol very clever - think theres another guitarist who does that sort of thing with a specially built twin guitar - the two necks form a V from the waist and the player just finger taps both necks at the same time.

yeah - check this sad shit out

http://www.deanguitars.com/angelo/

technical proficiency is worthless if the song is shit tbh

the mario tune was better

yeah its like playing the piano except when you lift you finger off the string it will sound the note of the string again but unfretted ( or open ) unless u mute it - so it can be quite a bit harder to control than simply pressing a note like on a piano .

And of course a pianos notes aren't 1cm wide and about half a cm long where pressing one wrong would make an awful noise :p

For some duel necked guitar even better then that, check out this :
http://www.deanguitars.com/angelo/mab_videos/
If that doesn't link correctly then search for the duel necked guitar.

For a single 12 string guitarist though, check out john butler :

For a single guy playing a harp guitar called michael hedges:

Eric Mongrain playing an acoustic with a very unique tapping style. Just try to keep up :D

Enjoy the different styles :) Personally I think the john butler one is my favourite, maybe a poll would be in order ;)

The Chapman Stick has been around for about 30 years, still a fairly rare sighting, but is the first instrument designed purely to be played by using both hands tapping. There some incredible Stick players out there...here's a few snippets...

Irene Orleansky

Pascal Glanville

Worth hunting around...tried a Stick once in Martin Petersen's bass workshop in London; it felt very weird, but interesting. They come in bass and treble versions, from 10 to (I think) 14 strings, and are generally fairly mad.

There are also Warr Guitars which are very similar. Essentially mountain dulcimers with guitar tunings and frets as far as I can see.

The thing I find strange about them is the fact that the frets seem to steep across.

I'd love to be able to play a warr guitar though, just for the crack. :p

The frets are 'fanned' like that because the scale length for the bottom string is longer than that for the top string, to allow for getting lower notes while still maintaining proper string tension - so the strings aren't so loose they just flap about or go sharp when you tap the string.

A face-on picture makes it more obvious:

...holy shit! Look at these things I found while searching for the above pic:

Yes, there is - all the harp bits are tuned to sympathetically resonate with what's being played - sitars and Hardanger fiddles have used that idea for centuries. Plus you can pluck the open strings, as in the Michael Hedges vids above.
